Investment Q&A
Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.
Q: This from the Globe and Mail this morning: "Flight-simulator company CAE pivots to ventilator production, plans 10,000 units within three months." Will this have a significant impact on a $4.2 Billion company?
Q: Is there a "superficial gains" rule? I am asking as I am trying to determine the most effective ways to make use of capital losses. Would "washing" some existing gains in a tax year by selling and then immediately rebuying the up security be an effective way to use capital losses?
Q: Do you think this is a good entry point for long term hold and do you think Luckin financial fraud and major stock price decline will benefit Starbucks and Starbucks S/H?
Q: What do you make of Luckin Coffee after the recent news. Is it a fraud and broken business.
Q: What is the definition of redemption of the trust for actual bullion...how much investment would that be?
Q: Morning guys:
I’ve been averaging down on this name. I think it’s a bargain at these prices . Would you guys agree?

Brookfield Infrastructure Corporation Class A Exchangeable Subordinate Voting Shares (BIPC)
Q: Further to my earlier question today- just realised I still have the original BIP shares (duh!). Hard to tell with this volatility but is the BIPC a "bonus" or is BIP value offset by the same amount? Will BIPC be paying a dividend and what is the rate? Thanks and sorry for the confusion.
Q: The questions on this security seem to never end but why is it better to own BIPC in a TFSA than BIP.UN?
Q: I own the following preferred share enb.pf.g It is being reset on sept 1 2020 . With your past experience and crystal ball would suggest continuing to hold or just sell? Please only consider whether this is worth holding or not.

Q: Hello 5i
BIPC has been placed in my American unregistered account. Also my wife has the same but in her TFSA account. Should I leave everything as is or put BIPC into a Canadian account? I am retired with a good pension. TD just has the stock as BIPC not BIPC.CA or BIPC.W, though it is in a U.S. account.

Q: Hi,
I have a position in PXT. I read an article that indicated that at $30 Brent oil price, PXT is still profitable.
With Brent oil prices currently at around $30 and PXT having cash on hand and no debt, could you please share your opinion on the stock and if PXT would be the one oil based recovery stock to benefit provided oil prices don’t sink further.
Thanks,

Q: Neither of my Cdn bank online brokerages show any new shares for UTX this morning, and UTX now trades as RTX as I understand it. But I'm reading conflicting info on what will happen with my UTX shares. Will they just become RTX? Will I receive spin off shares? A google search doesn't seem to give a clear answer.
Q: I didn't follow this.company till I read the split. Can you explain the.difference briefly and which company do you think has better growth
Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: I had a limit order in to buy some RTN but because of the United Technologies merger today it was cancelled overnight. RTN now trades under RTX. Would you recommend buying either UTX or RTX (or neither?)at this time and if so at what price ?
Many thanks as always

Q: I have 100k to invest and require income from dividends as it for non registered account. Irregardless of sectors, which solid, dividend paying stocks would you buy that have been beaten down and provide the most dividends for the buck. Would you buy all at once or spread the purchases over a time frame.

Q: Hi 5i! Hope all of you and your families are well and safe.
Myself, being in a enthousiastic investment shopping mode, I'm looking for a BRK.B type of investment in canada. Which do you prefer between FFH, BAM.A, ONEX and why?
Any other suggestions?
Many thanks!

Q: Hello,
Do you consider Chartwell a buy, sell, or hold at current level.
Please provide your thoughts about the company.
In the past, you liked the company because of the type of properties they owned. Has that become a liability during corona scare?
Thanks,
