Q: In regards to joint accounts, we joined our accounts 10 years ago. All tax information has both our names and the recipient type box is marked as 2 recipients.The sin number is the number of the account that the transferred account was transferred too, and is the first name on the account. Just split all statements for tax purposes. There was no disposition of stocks in the transfer account, just transferred in kind when we combined our accounts.

Q: So, the goons over at Motley Fool Canada having been hyping up a recent Canadian tech IPO, with the usual comparisons to Amazon, Netflix and Shopify.

Travis over at Stock Gumshoe speculates that they're talking about LightSpeed POS (in this blog https://www.stockgumshoe.com/reviews/stock-advisor-canada/whats-the-shopify-2-0-teased-by-motley-fool-canada/), a company I was already familiar with thanks to your growth portfolio.

I'm was wondering if I could get your take on this enormous hype - obviously this is Motley's bread and butter, but since you just issued a report on Lightspeed back in June I'm curious.

Q: I hold some Just Energy Convertible Debentures (JE.DB.C) as part of my fixed income allocation. With the recent setback they have fallen from about $95 to $80. If the company restructures I assume they will go to zero, but if the company survives or gets bought out they should return close to par. What would you recommend at this point and are there any signals to look for that would scream get out now no matter what the loss?

Q: I am currently overweight the financial sector. I am concerned about the trend to negative interest and the risk of a recession. The odds of market declines are increasing in my opinion.
Protection of capital is more important than income.
We are not supposed to time the market.
Should I put this group in cash ?
The group will be hurt by negative interest rates or am I wrong on this.

Q: Hi 5i-
Given the current state of energy sector and especially the oil companies in Canada what is the likely possibility that a company like Torc oil and gas could/would go bankrupt. Is this possibility something that is also influenced by a low share price. (I remember Teck Resources stock falling very low during 2015/2016 and heard talk of this, but later 2016 the stock recovered.)
Currently long term holder of Tog but down -75% thinking about averaging down but would value your opinion on this or better to sell and move on. There are no tax advantages as in an rrsp from many years ago.

Q: What is your view of Peyto today, its still making money and the monthly report from the CEO Darren Gee for July 2019 puts a value of the shares at over $20.00.(Tangible Infrastructure $8.20/share + Reserves $27.07/share - total Debt $7.21/share). But here we are today it went below $3 for the first time. What happens if it stays below $3, do any mutual funds or ETF's have to sell?
