Q: I earlier asked about when/if you thought HEO could possibly move to the TSX, it got me wondering about two other stocks I own - STC and PEO. Both of these stocks seemingly are big enough no?

At what point to companies decide to list on the TSX from the venture usually? Is it a market cap thing? Thanks in advance.

Q: New customer to 5i. Retired, 62 years old, married, investments held jointly, 65% of low 7 figure DIY portfolio made up of Cdn equities, rest in cash/bonds. 90% of equity held outside of SDRSP accounts. Question – for many years, we’ve been receiving dividend income that is eligible for the tax credit and have paid virtually zero income taxes. I am aware that we are not at all diversified internationally and have broken this fundamental tenant in investing. But since taxes are likely the single biggest cost in our lives, we believe our lack of int’l exposure (and thereby probably missing out on better returns), is less important than our tax savings. Is this stance short sighted ?

Q: Two companies for which you appear to have a favourable view seem to be seriously struggling as far as their stock price goes. There seems to be little interest from investors as is evident from the low trading volume. Would you recommend continued patience and holding on or should I let them go and move the money to more productive areas. No chance for tax losses as they are in a LIRA. Thanks as always.

Q: hi folks:

earlier today sorin asked for 10 "keeper stocks"

i would assume that to mean ones to hold for 5 yr + years

your reply contained not one bank in either country (only financial - SLF)

while i agree things will almost assuredly get rough (er) for banks in the years ahead; are they really all uninvestable now?

in which case making them all a sell ? (and re-buy much lower?)

curious for your comments

Q: I hold some big loss holdings, such as those above, in registered accounts. Even though there is no opportunity to claim tax losses, would it make sense to consider selling them, at least until the new year, to avoid further losses resulting from tax loss season?

Q: Hi group still struggling with W performance as of late - its all over the map (before earning's before market opens Tues the 6th. Yesterday the stock was up when everything was getting clobbered today its off 10% any thoughts on buy sell or hold and reasons Help I am leaning toward sell presently I have a loss position of 5% on a full position - I am a moderate risk investor Thanks

Q: Hi, what do you recommend for a small portfolio (< 15k), start with etf only until have a nice nest or canadian stocks (because TSX etf it is not well diversified) + etf for us stocks? I would like to manage a stocks portfolio but maybe it is an error now due to my portfolio size. I think about VFV (35%) + XQQQ (or VGT) (15%) + VEE (10%) + 40% canadian stocks (no etf).

Q: Brookfield is oft touted as an iconic must own Canadian equity. Ytd it is running currently at -23% annualized. How do you see this name performing in any possibly positive fashion until we see some light at the end of the Covid pandemic?

Q: Hi Peter,

Nokia is getting hammered this morning for missing expectations. Do you see this as an opportunity to buy in at this price point or should I steer clear until the new CEO has had more time to make impact? Do you prefer Ericsson in light of their earnings report last week, both, or neither at current prices?
