Q: Hi
I hold stocks of Starbucks, Parkland, Parklawn, TC Energy.
I would like to get your outlook on these companies going forward in this volatile market. Do you see them as having good fundamentals and re-bounding back in 2021?
With the US election taking place in Nov 2020 and if Biden is elected, how will this affect overall market and will we see the stock market on the downside again?

Q: Hi,
I would be interested in your comments on this company. It seems to be growing well, with a recent announcement of a big increase in earnings. However I am somewhat concerned about the fact that Huawei is on their stated list of customers. Will the recent threat from Trump to limit sales to Huawei have a large negative effect on Inphi? As a small cap, do they have a lot of debt? I found a Debt/Equity figure of 1.37 on Finviz.com, but am not sure how to interpret that, given that they currently show a negative income. I'm looking to get my US allocation in my portfolio up to ~40% in the Healthcare, Industrials, and Tech sectors. I have a VERY long time frame, but I'm interested in businesses that have aggressive/high growth in the IMMEDIATE to 2 year timeframe.

Could you please rank the names below in terms of highest short-term growth potential coming out of a COVID world (reopening, new normal).

And if possible, are there any US names that trump these selections instead? Please take as many question credits as required:

Q: Hello 5i team. I read with interest how contrary to steelmakers worldwide who are battening down the hatches, Stelco CEO Alan Kestenbaum is betting big on a renaissance in North American manufacturing and construction by making $110-million of investments with the goal of turning Stelco into North America's most efficient steel maker. Ballsy. I agree with him that the other side of this panedemic will see an onshoring of manufacturing capacity in North America. The biggest risk I see with this one is if Trump ever decided to re-impose the steel tariffs. At just over $6/share, do you see this stock as a buy for a semi-patient investor with a long time horizon? Also, how sustainable is the dividend?

Q: Hello 5i team. Trying to make some money on the home fitness hibernation trend. Looking at Nautilus which has quadrupled (how did I miss that ?!?!?) in the last 6 months for my TFSA. The bride says pass, that I should go with Peloton instead, which has a higher profile, whose shares are also on an upward trajectory and which she believes trumps Nautilus in 'the cool factor'. Your insights are always appreciated.

Just looking at North American stock sectors which will be effected the most and which offer the best protection if the dog pooh should hit the trade fan?

Q: I read an article that suggest that the US has essentially moved the FED's role to the Treasury Dept, thereby giving control (more at least) to the Trump admin. First, do you see this as the case, and second, if they were to devalue the US dollar as Trump has often called for to better compete with the world, and this brought structural support to the political move away from China and ROTW imports and boosted a reemergence of the US manufacturing/supply-chain system, what companies would look like a steal today ten years from now?

Q: Benjamin Tal was speaking on the current situation and crisis. He indicated that the crisis has identified significant cracks in the current global economy and he is forecasting some significant changes in how companies will operate going forward. Particularly he identified that the vulnerability of the supply chain and the 'just in time' approach to supply. He believes these 2 things will change going forward. He believes we will see an acceleration in de-centralization (started by trump) and a more balanced approach to having supplies on hand. If you beleive in these 2 economic trends, what stocks do you believe would fit these trends. I am thinking commercial warehousing and the like?

Q: So during the Trump impeachment hearings, I got nervous and I pulled my $500,000 pension out of my Blackrock mutual funds and stuck the cash in a money market account. Pure luck on my part but I figure I need to take advantage of this crash and reinvest. My organization's pension fund is through Sun Life. My question is, would you put this in the Canadian Mutual fund (blue chip Canadian stuff) or the US Black rock fund (again blue chip US companies).....OR....European focused. I am debating. The TSX has been pummeled and seems like a good choice. What percentages would you follow? Any advice?

Q: China's economy seems to be coming back. Something I ordered in January has finally been shipped. The streets in Beijing are getting busier and of course the Trump administration seems to have finally taken the threat seriously.
If the current shutdown is successful and the incubation period is 14 days would you think it reasonable to see signs of improvement after a month or so?

I am not 100% clear on stock and ETF's allocations for investment plans. Take as many points as needed to answer the questions below. I apologize in advance for the length of the question.

As a Canadian investing through a Canadian site (RBC in this case), split into CDN and US sections (moved CDN funds to USD and paid the exchange), which stocks and ETF's should be allocated to RRSP (CDN or US sections), TFSA, & Non-Registered accounts?

As an example, an RBC RRSP account is split into CAD and USD segments. If I purchase VWO in USD on the US segment instead of VEE on the CDN segment do I retain the 15% withholding tax? If I purchase VWO in CDN funds on the CDN side of the RRSP, what happens to the 15% withholding tax?

Is there a tax difference when filing a CRA 1135 form. e.g if VWO or VEE are 100+k CDN value: VWO on the USD segment or VEE on the CDN segment or VWO on the CDN segment.

If a US stock has a dividend, should this ever be purchased on the CDN side of the RRSP or in a TFSA? .. e.g. CRM with a small dividend or AMGN with a larger dividend

Can you please assign the best allocations (RRSP, TFSA, Non-Registered) to examples a the bottom of the question.
e.g. Non-dividend Growth US stocks (Googl, AMZN): TFSA, RRSP
This tells me that AMZN is best in the TFSA for growth, and in an RRSP purchased in CDN or US funds is the same effect other than currency at the time of purchase.
If a stock or ETF should be in CDN or US sections can you note that as well? e.g. RRSP(CDN or US).
It is a lot to ask so limited examples below will hopefully reduce the effort.

I was able to convert almost everything to cash late January and am now waiting to see when bottom is at hand. Markets appear to be displaying some signs of recovery this morning after the ridiculous comments by Trump the other day. Is there any reason we should be optimistic and begin looking at getting back in? Or do you think we still have a ways to go before recovery?
