Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Hi Guys - I am looking for 2-3 "core" ideas to invest in for the next 3-5 years to provide solid gains but also a couple of potential "home runs" - ideas that can go up 2-5x (but obviously have risk associated). Which names are you most excited about?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Q: Hello Peter and Team,
I hold these three securities in my RIF account with over 20% loss.
I am thinking of selling specially MAXR and PHO to replace them with two other securities with more potential upside when and if the market recover.
Please give your opinion and potential replacements.

Q: Hi 5i,
I am considering small average down purchases of the listed companies but unfortunately cash is limited so can't choose all of them! Could you rate/order them for rebound potential ? Currently MX & TOY are approx 3% each, FSZ 2%,and TSGI/SLF/SIS have been driven lower to approx 1% each.

Thanks
Mike

Q: You have said that you prefer tsgi over pbl. Looking at the financials the roe, roi, debt, eps growth, price to cf is better at pbl than tsgi. What is the reason for your preference?
Regarding plc can you tell me what the reason is for the huge earnings spike in 2021?

Q: Hello Peter,

First off, great job on BNN yesterday! Your comments helped reinforce on focusing on the long term and not quarterly results. Just to recap your theme, I have listed the companies with let's say "quarterly miss" , however, with a market over reaction to the downside. Can you add or delete other companies that fit in this category?

Thank-you for being in our investment corner.

Q: Good Day,
With these companies taking huge hits lately isn’t this the time to be greedy when others are fearful? Do these companies deserve full positions with a long term outlook?
Thx

Q: Hello all at 5i,

I am keeping a close eye on TSGI as are at least a few others. I have held TSGI for a long time, trimmed several times as value grew and am still nicely ahead on my remaining shares. They are in a taxable account so each time I sold I had to consider and manage the tax consequences.

After the recent decline I want the build TSGI's value back to a more historic percentage of my portfolio. This time I plan to do the purchasing in my TFSA spread out between now and the end of december. I'm also thinking of transferring in kind shares from my taxable account to my TFSA in january (and deal with the tax) as my 2019 contribution. This would leave a portion of my shares in my taxable account.

Your thoughts please on the above (purchase and transfer), pros, cons and potential plan changes I should consider.

Thank you for your insight.
