Q: Good Morning,
Of the two stocks listed above, which do you see having the best total return in the next 3-5 year, and a brief explanation of your reasoning.
Thank you,
Q: This has been a long term hold in as RRIP account with a DRIP, The book cost is close to the current market value. Enjoyed the dividends over the years. Is it time to move on. Look forward to your answer.
Q: 9:51 AM 1/20/2024
Does the US newly instituted tax rule on limited partnerships doing any business in the US now apply to BEP.UN, BIP.UN. BEPC, BIPC?
I have owned these for many years and all have very large capital gains in cash accounts so I am reluctant to sell them due to the crippling 10% 'disposition' tax on top of the big capital gain were I to sell. It seems I am caught in a tax trap! I would appreciate any advice on which ones are vulnerable to the tax and what to do.
Regards............ Paul W. K.
Q: Would you be able to provide me with a list of 3 CDN and 3 US stocks that you expect to have a significantly better overall return in the next 12-36 months than BEP and a brief comment on each as to why?
Q: In your opinion, is it worth holding on to AQN for the potential benefits of it's renewable business sale/split (and whatever other news follows), or sell now and invest in to companies with more proven management and stability e.g. I'd be putting the proceeds mainly in to BNS and TD.
Q: Thinkinf of swaping out Sunlife now in a hopefully falling rate environment for a stock with more overall growth potential, but still a dividend over 4%. Please provide a few names for a dividend focused retirement portfolio that also bring strong overall return potential. Or, thoughts on whether Sun Life is still a stock to own in this situation.
Q: Hi 5i,
Happy New Year!
Of the 5 Green Utility stocks listed, could you please list them in order of preference (best to worst) with a short explanation of 1) why and 2) the pros and cons for each stock at this time?
Q: I am currently in the negative on T, AMZN, TTD, TCN, NVEI, CPRX, ATZ, ENGH, LSPD, ABNB, WELL, BEP.UN, ROKU, ILMN, SE, PINS, and ZM. I have a 10+ year outlook, however would like to know based on the company and growth potential, what would you Sell or Hold? And if a Hold, please advise your perspective. Thanks!!
Q: I have a considerable loss in BEP.UN. I am considering selling it to harvest the loss. However, I am concerned that the stock might jump in early 2024 leaving me to 'chase' it to repurchase it. Do you see any catalyst that might trigger a surge in price during my 30 day wait period?
With appreciation,
Ed
Q: I held AQN in two separate accounts for over a year, I sold AQN in the account that had the largest position (80%) and I've hung on to AQN in the other account.
I thought of replacing AQN with NPI to maintain my sector exposure, I've yet to make that purchase.....why???? I've been side tracked with the idea of buying BEP.... Can you folks please wade in, would appreciate some of your thoughts and rationale.
Q: I'm hoping to take profit from ATD and maybe CSU. My weight in CSU is out of hand but I find it hard to sell that juggernaut. I also have TOI and LMN. I'm happy with my weighting of TOI and i plan to add a small weighting in LMN. I'm underweight in the following: SIS, PBH, SHOP, TD, BEP.UN, ENB, T, SLF, AW.UN. How would you rank these names going forward? Would you recommend swapping any of these for better opportunities that 5i covers or are in the balanced portfolio?
Q: I HAVE APPROX EQUAL $ AMOUNTS IN BOTH OF THESE COS.
IF I WAS TO SELL ONE WHICH ONE COULD IT BE AND WITH THE SALE PROCEEDS WHICH OTHER BROOKFIELD CO WOULD YOU CONSIDER TO BE THE BEST. THANK YOU.
Q: I hold both BEPC and BEP.UN. THE BEPC SHARES I HOLD AT A LOSS. I’M WONDERING IF YOU KNOW WHETHER OR NOT I CAN SELL THE SHARES IN BEPC AND BUY BEP.UN WITH The proceeds, and still claim the capital loss on the BEPC shares?
