Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: On Aug 21/24 you answered a question and suggested that investors start analyzing better the "downside risks" associated with any of their particular investments.

If we assume that "risks" range from 0 (lowest) to 10 (highest) and that individual stock choices occupy categlories 5-10 I am looking for your suggestions in categories 0-3 - one a USD denominated suggestion and one in CDN.

For my 0 category I currently use RBC's savings accounts RBF 2010 and RBF 2014 (USD) . I assume that some of your favourites from answers I have reviewed will be in categories 1-3 such as HISU.U, UBIL.U, HBND etc.

In any event if you can provide me with your analysis of the nature of the varying downside risk levels on a rising level and a suggestion for each I would be very grateful.

Regards,
Terry

Q: Can you please provide your current assessment of Superior Propane (SPB)? I have been invested for about 3 years and am down close to 50% and it continues to follow its trend of decreasing stock price ever since I owned it. Did I miss one of your fundamental reasons to sell and do I now consider holding for purposes of income, if you think it has hit a floor and has no further growth prospect? Thanks again - John C

Q: Hello 5i research, could you give me a current standing on Archer Aviation compare to similar companies? Is there another prospect in the field of short distance aviation that is worth considering to hold? I would like to buy ACHR and hold fit or the next 5 years.

Thank you

Q: Are there any other U.S dollar denominated comparable ETFs? I would be interested in holding a modest position in such a vehiicle, but am concerned about the tax consequences relative to, say, VIG. The newness of this issue is of less concern given th reputation of RBC. Thanks to the team. Bill

Q: Good morning 5i
I noticed this morning that there was a question showing concern for the election and stocks. I am not thinking about selling out completely. But, I have considered selling everything that has to do with green energy. While I think it is important and necessary, it doesn’t look like Trump thinks so. And there looks like a strong possibility that he will be given another chance to see what he can do. So, the question is not about selling all but certain things, such as icln. How would you see that?
Thanks for your great help
