Q: Hi All at 5i! Now that it has been several years since the great market decline in 2008, who faired better overall? The US , that tried to spend its way out through quantative easing,or Europe , who decided on more austere measures? Thanks, Tamara
Q: To take Goodman's "grandchildren" analogy to heart, then, ... I'm assuming he's telling us to bail if we don't have grandkids? : /
What if our grandkids are already taken care of, and we'd like to see better results now?
Five years seems to be an awfully long time for compost to ferment, in my mind. I'm an organic gardener, so no disrespect intended here. ; )
Your thoughts, please, on his silly analogy. This slow-burning genius seems to be fizzling out, like a dud firecracker. Surely investors deserve a little something for being so patient -- maybe even a little respect.

Gluskin Sheff + Associates Inc. (GS)
Q: Hello all.
Looks like GS has worked out ok for recent purchasers.
Given this:
"The Gluskin Sheff board of directors, after consultation with its financial and legal advisers, has unanimously approved the transaction and determined that it is in the best interests of Gluskin Sheff, and unanimously recommends that Gluskin Sheff shareholders vote in favour of the transaction." I would expect low likelihood of a competing offer- your thoughts?
Also wondering if you can recommend another pick, (in any industry), with similar qualities, especially a significant and solid dividend.
Thanks

Q: PDL, linked to the palladium price, has recently been a very volatile performer. This morning palladium is down 2.5 per cent, but PDL is down 10. Forecasts for palladium are generally quite bullish. How do I trade such a volatile performer? Just hang on, grit my teeth and wait? Reduce? Thank you.
Q: Hi 5i - what should we take away from the recent approx 90% exercise of warrants for this company? Is this good news - or neutral news in your view?

Q: Question on Boeing. Christmas eve it was under $300 without the threat of mass cancelations and potential litigation staring at it. With all of the uncertainty ahead of it how the heck is it holding at $370? It seems to be bouncing down and hovering there as though supported by something. What's your take?

ECN Capital Corp. 6.50% Cumulative 5-Year Minimum Rate Reset Preferred Shares Series A (ECN.PR.A)
Q: I currently hold both.
Re ECN.PR.A
1. Reset Dec. 5 , 2021
2. Rate cannot be less than 6.5%
3. Protection against rising rates, but with rates neutral and/or falling there is an increase likelihood of redemption at $25.
4. Price of Pref. Has trended along with ECN. Cibc has a target of $5.00
5. Reset at 5 yr Canada plus 5.44 (1.523 + 5.44 = 6.963). My book value is $23.57 for a yield of 6.9%
6. Relative to ZPR the price has dropped.
7. I’ve been unable to see the trend on volume.
Question is to make sense of all this, Sell hold or sell half position and keep the cash for other opportunities.
