Q: Hi,
Probably a newbie question, however if I don't ask I will never know :)
Can VLB be considered like an hedge against VSB?
My fixed income portion needs to be higher and I currently own vsb.
Or would it be wiser to simply buy something like VAB instead of the other two?
Thanks

Q: What are your top us and canadian stock picks for growth that you would buy today.
Q: Hi, Nuvei took a hit Wednesday morning, I understand, in line with downward pressure on Big Tech, with Democrats win in Georgia senate. This company appears to be a favorite with 5i, based on your recent comments as well as the payment space, it operates. I think, it was also mentioned in one of the answers that Nuvei has a niche in sports and gaming payment settlements space. I noticed some news this morning which helped sports betting stocks like Draftking etc, jump 3-5%. Will this be beneficial to Nuvei ? I bought a small 0.5% position, today and still considering to bring it up to 1-1.5%. Thank You
Q: Hi, Shopify has puled back to $1375. You had indicated that it has support around $1350 - $1400 level. Is it reasonably safe to add to an existing position around here ( Recent high $1650 ), or wait for further decline in price? Thanks
Q: Hi team - what do you think are the biggest advantages/strategies that individual DIY investors can use compared to the larger institutional investors? For example, I would imagine companies traded on the TSXV aren't followed as closely by the larger funds (I believe I read that here). Thanks in advance
Q: With recently pull back, do you think it's a good opportunity to step in? What's your long term view and target price for the company (>5 years)?
Thank you,
Thank you,
Q: The market is way up, but BIPC is way down and I can't figure out a reason. This is not one of those stocks that goes up or down 5-6% in a day.
Q: Hi 5i,
I have trouble making good decisions about when to sell, both when a stock has risen and when one has fallen. I've found myself selling winners too soon (which at least only leads to loss of opportunity, not actual loss) and holding on to falling stocks too long which ultimately leads to both loss of opportunity because the money is not better deployed elsewhere as well as to eventual actual loss.
I have a general question and also specific questions related to this conundrum - please deduct points as you see fit.
Can you suggest 'rules' or at least guidelines that I can incorporate into my investing methodology regarding when to sell which, although they likely won't work perfectly in every instance will, if applied consistently over time, help me to make better decisions about when to sell?
And specifically: I've done well with DCBO but can't confidently determine whether I should hold longer or take my profits and look to use the cash elsewhere. In discussions about LSPD for example, your view seems to be that it has lots of runway left and continuing to hold could well be worthwhile. I haven't heard that about DCBO though, and can't confidently determine if its future prospects realistically support continuing to hold rather than cashing in at its current high levels.
Which brings me to the opposite scenario involving AT, which I bought recently in my TFSA only to see it nosedive almost immediately afterwards. I'm down 22% in the space of a week and for the life of me don't know whether I should bail now and cut potential future losses, or hold on hoping for an increase to at least near where I bought - $16.65 .
Your advice regarding the above specific scenarios would be greatly appreciated - and maybe if there are worthwhile general rules or guidelines for when to sell you could also explain how you'd apply them to the 2 opposing scenarios I've described as I'm sure that would help me going forward.
Thanks a ton for your anticipated help in dealing with this issue that vexes me greatly!

Q: Comment on Previous Question
someone looking for a conservative's investment over a three year period.
XTR is not what I would think conservative, This was down 50% in the crash in 2008 and 25% in 2020, this is not a sleep at night investment.

Q: Hi guys! Asking for my parents, hope that's okay, your service has been very beneficial for me. They are currently living off their pension and have $60k in a TFSA that they would like to do something with for the next two-three years. Both roughly 65yrs old. They are looking for both a very safe, and also relatively safe recommendation please. Ideally, they are looking for a fairly hands off approach, where the risk of coming out at the end of it with less than they have is low. They are open to equity investing through a low fee brokerage, or looking at a service like one of the roboinvestor platforms, or anything else you'd recommend. Thanks I really appreciate it!
Q: Hi 5i team,
Peter, I enjoyed your last FP column and your fearless 2021 predictions. In your predictions a year earlier for 2020, you predicted the U.S markets would beat Canada, and they crushed Canada. For 2021, you did not make one for Canada vs the U.S, although you said technology would outperform, where the U.S. has a big edge. While I have a growth and U.S. bias, I did move a chunk of funds back to Canada in 2020 to pick up some value names and some newer tech names. Hence, my question. Who will be the big winner in 2021 – the U.S. with its big tech, healthcare and consumer names (the favourite) or Canada with its financials, energy and materials names (the perennial underdog)?
Thanks again for your insight over the years.

Q: Sold some of my CSU holdings to reduce overall Tech weighting. Have very little exposure in the consumer space. What is your favorite long-term hold in consumer space right now?
