Q: Falling knife? I'm guessing sometime in the next quarter, oil prices will rebound.

I’m confused with the last press release of Brookfield on Friday :

""...The transaction will result in the division of Brookfield into two publicly traded companies – the Corporation (Brookfield Asset Management Inc. will be renamed “Brookfield Corporation”) and the Manager with the holders of Brookfield’s class A ………becoming shareholders of the Manager on completion (the “Arrangement”).

• Brookfield Corporation and the Manager will respectively own 75% and 25% of our asset management business;

• the Class A Shares of the Corporation are expected to trade on the New York Stock Exchange (the “NYSE”) and the Toronto Stock Exchange (the “TSX”) under the new ticker symbol “BN”;

• the Manager’s class A limited voting shares (“Manager Class A Shares”) are expected to trade on the NYSE and TSX under the ticker symbol “BAM”;

• each holder of Class A Shares will receive 1 Manager Class A Share for every 4 Class A Shares held;


It looks like the actual BAM.A shares will be « renamed » BN. And "NewBam" shares issued on 1 for 4 basis. Is it right?


Do you know how long it could take to implement the changes after the Nov9 meeting? 5-10 days? I plan to transfer some shares of BAM out of my RRIF this year and I prefer to wait after the spinoff.

Q: I keep thinking it might be time to start buying, but the price just keeps dropping. The TTM P/E is negative but the Globe's data shows a low forward P/E. Is that likely? It was trading below its current stock price prior to Covid so I wonder if it has other avenues currently available to generate profits.

Q: If you held CAE and CJT would you stay with them or buy another industrial stock with the same or better growth profile in this environment? If so, which stock would you recommend?

Q: I hold SLF in a non registered account. I’m down 19%. Thinking of selling, buying MFC for 30 days and then buy back SLF. I’m expecting an oversold bounce but a guaranteed tax savings is likely to be higher than the bounce and MLF should be a decent proxy. Flaws in this logic?

Q: I am down >75% on each of these 3 stocks over the past 1+ years. I still have faith in the businesses though, and have a very longterm time horizon. I'm not looking to sell and rather, wondering if each/all of them would be worth adding to (at these significantly lower prices) if looking for long term gains? Thank you.

Q: Down 15% today on 1.2 million shares traded. Settled at a dollar fourteen. Is this market manipulation. There was no news other than Scotia Bank initiating coverage with a sector outperform rating, target price 5 dollars. Only 114 cents to get to zero.

Q: I am in my 80's and am changing my investment philosophy.
Can you suggest 6-8 stocks US or Can that would be in a solid l-o-n-g term growth and income portfolio. I would particularly like stocks that have recently been a little soft.

Q: This has really sold off, but from what I hear the industrial sector is doing really strong/there is a lot of demand and not much supply (at least in Canada).

Is this general market weakness or is there something else going on? Do they say if a lot of their debt is fixed rate or floating/are they getting crushed by higher rates? I though most real estate managers used mostly fixed rate.

What do you think of it at this price?

Q: Some of the bank brokerages won't let you buy PSA. What brokerages will let you buy it?

I was told that MNY is a new ETF that apparently addresses some of the bank brokerages' concerns. What is your opinion of MNY and would you recommend it as well as PSA?
