Thank you for your answer about Palantir’s tech. That was a lot more straightforward than what google was offering.

I’ve observed a few Germans (who have obviously grown up in an education system that does an exceptionally good job of teaching them about their own history) comment that they recognize the playbook happening in real time in the United States at the moment. And to them, what comes next is dead obvious: the current administration will make its move to consolidate power down into a one party state this year. (Akin to 1933.)

I hope that doesn’t happen and I know that I can’t do anything about it beyond learn more about history so that I feel less surprised when people’s behaviour repeats itself. I’m already familiar with the societal side of events when a fascist style of governance takes over, so now I would like to familiarize myself with how the stock markets and economies (domestic & global) have a history of / pattern of behaving when a formerly democratic government consolidates power.

Have you come across any good articles that cover this topic?

Q: Canada has narrowed the choice of submarine suppliers to two. Hanwha from South Korea and TKMS from Germany. This is a multi billion dollar project. Does Kraken do business with one or both of them? What impact will this have on PNG's sales? How much of this has already been baked into PNG's price run-up? Is one supplier more beneficial for PNG's future?

Q: Are target maturity bond funds a good investment for the fixed income portion of a portfolio if held to maturity? How is the yield and return impacted as the fund continues to purchase bonds for new investors in the future? Is there a cutoff date when the fund will no longer issue new shares? Can you list the advantages and disadvantages of this fund as compared to purchasing an individual bond and hold to maturity. Thanks

Q: Market price and NAV seem to have only vague relation to the spot price for copper. Does this have something to do with the fact it is a closed end trust?
Are there any other ETFs that track the spot price of the metal closer?

Q: I sold this 'darling' in a new account in December for a tax loss, looking to re-purchase same in Jan. I didn't expect the price to drop an additional 20%. Do I re-purchase CSU during a 'down turn' momentum or ???

1. XAW ($10K) and XIC ($3k)
2. VEQT
3. Other suggestions from 5i.
4. Once it reaches >$50k then start adding individual stocks.

Q: There appear to be varied opinions on the demand for Canada's future lng demand in the future. The us appears to have the upper hand as far as exporting. Two of the kitimat lng project holdings looking to sell. Your opinion for the next couple years for the above companies. Would you still hold enb as a long term hold?

Q: Hello everyone,

Oracle has lost half it's value since peaking in September, and I have ridden the wave up and now down. They just announced a $50B equity and debt deal on Feb 01, 2026 to finance their cloud build out primarily for OpenAI. I am getting concerned about the amount of debt they are taking on, and I am wondering if it's time to sell and move on. Thanks for your comments.

Apologies for one of those “apples to oranges”kind of questions but I have some cash to deploy and am deciding between SE and ELVA.

I realize they are very different but if I’m looking for projected growth, reasonable valuation and some strong fundamentals which would you pick today?

This is for a 3-5 year hold and is a 3% allocation in terms of my total portfolio.

Q: I’m 75. My precious metals position is 20%. I have own SWM for many years ( cost is about 9.00. I have about 10 % fixed income. I am comfortable holding but at my age maybe trim? What would be a limit for the metals. It seems, it is still under owned. Maybe. I don’t hear or see it.

My portfolio currently has a full position in XGD which has been brilliant. Looking forward, how do you view opportunities in base metals/copper and uranium versus gold?

As the commodity rally broadens I want to expand my positions beyond gold and am looking for ETF exposure. I see ZMT and XBM for Canadian listed base metals, and HURA for uranium. Are there any other ETFs that you focus on?
