Q: Around Feb 25 the stock took a large upward jump.
On April 8th it dropped nearly 3%
Do you have any insight why the 2 significant movements?
Also to business questions:
i) what is the latest plan for divesting their pork business and
ii) they recently raised their dividend 9%. What is their payout ratio?

Q: Hi, sorry for my apple to oranges question, but I’m thinking of selling Msft ( down) for tax loss and adding X for a long term hold. Would you be ok with this move, or do you feel Msft would be much better in the long term? Looking for the elusive combination of steady growth and stability.

Q: I started accumulating positions in these the last couple of days with intentions of adding more. Was never able to get in at decent prices ever before. They have all bounced back today and are in green quite nicely which is great but they are only small positions and I wanted to buy more. Do I wait as this mess will give another chance to get in Or do i average up ? Any issues with anything on the list ?

Q: I think we all want to deny the probability of a US civil war. Markets might be efficient but government's are not. I have been guided by looking at worst case vs best case scenarios and have allways found the reality somewhere in between. I'm concerned now, that the US and Trump may be taking us into a worst case scenario. Is there any investment strategy that I should consider or avoid. Thanks. John

Q: Hi 5i Team - Could you name a few companies that service AI data centres in a structural way such as construction, maintenance/repairs, cooling, etc. Also a few companies that provide the power needed to run these centres. These would be stocks that have good growth ahead of them. Any market cap is fine but at least one small cap and a couple of mid caps. Also a combination of U.S. and Canadian companies.

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,

US bond yields have recently increased quite substantially due to the self-inflicted chaos caused by Trump. Canadian yields have also risen, but thankfully not as much as in the US. Even dividend payers like Fortis, Emera, and Hydro One have recently been under pressure.

Portfolio Analytics tells me that our Utilities exposure needs to be increased. Since the three stocks referenced are “on sale”, do you think that this could be an opportune time to buy some FTS, EMA, or H? We already have a large holding of FTS, but I’m intrigued by the recent momentum of Emera.

Your thoughts on this strategy will, as always, be of help as we try to navigate through this truly bizarre period.

Q: I am puzzled as to why the pipeline stocks have been dropping substantially over the last few days. I would have expected these companies to hold up quite well as they are basically a toll road for oil and gas with a good dividend. I considered pipeline stocks as a good defensive holding. What am I missing?

Q: Hi Peter. TD has been fined $3 billion by US authorities for their drug related money laundering transgressions (vs only $9 million in Canada). TD remains exposed to potentially an unlimited number of class action suits from the families of fentanyl victims, both in the US and Canada.

Do you believe that this class action exposure, as well as the potential for additional fines from Canadian authorities, to be a credible risk that may not be reflected in the current share price? I am concerned that this may be a drag on the stock for a lengthy period and am contemplating swapping my TD holdings for other Canadian banks. Your thoughts?
