Q: Hi,

What do you think of these 3 ETFS (XME,XLB, XLI) for the next 2 years and, hopefully much longer? I'm hoping for a 7% position.
Would you invest in any of them?
Is there another ETF you like better?

Q: Do you ever look back at some of the answers you gave to member's questions, and wonder why you were so bullish? Example: Unity Software

On March 22, 2021 when Unity was $100 you said:

"Unity gets a premium valuation as it is essentially in a global duopoly in its industry. It has more than 50% market share globally, and is in a good position to capture high growth in the market. This also gives it pricing power, and it has said it could double prices and only lose 2% of customers, but it wants to further entrench customers before it makes any price changes."

And on Dec 16, 2020 when the stock was $147 you said:

"In the gaming space, U is essentially in a global duopoly with Epic Games. Epic potentially is at a disadvantage with China trade dispute, so U's positioning in the sector is even stronger because of this. We consider it the 'Amazon' of gaming. It gets a piece of the action and makes it easier for games to launch. It is planning for the long term. Mgmt has said it could double prices and only lose 2% of customers. But it wants to firmly entrench its customers first. The stock is not cheap by any means, but revenue is expected to at least double in 18 months, and it should be profitable in 2022 or shortly thereafter."

Today the stock is $26.29. If you don't look back at your reasoning for being so bullish you won't learn. In an answer to a members question today you said Unity was a sell. What happened to your bullish view not that long ago, and holding for at least 5 years? Did you get caught up in the hype despite your decades of experience?

Q: Hi,
What do you think about the so called "windfall tax"? If O&G companies are going to be taxed for share buy backs, is it good or bad news for the shareholders? Should I add to my already held positions or sell and lighten up a little?
I saw briefly on Twitter feed Eric Nuttall thinks it's actually one of the few taxes that can be good for O&G stocks. I couldn't find his entire statement. So forgive me if I am misquoting Eric.

Q: I'm looking for a Mutual fund or ETF (preferred) that follows consumer cyclical stocks, do you have a recommendation?

Q: Can you suggest a safe proxy for WPM to do some tax loss selling? I already have a full position in FNV. I would prefer to stay with a streamer to avoid miner risk. Geographic risk also seems to be a concern with current geopolitical flux.

Q: Regardless superficial losses, RBC Wealth MGMT states "Generally, two different classes of shares of a corporation would not be considered identical if they do not have the same interests, rights and privileges. For example, if class A shares of CompanyCo have voting rights but class B shares do not, they would not be considered identical."

Does this mean I can dump my GOOG for a loss and immediately buy GOOGL? Thereby utilizing the tax-loss...

Q: GSY's YTD results are disappointing and in spite of the many positive touts (including 5i), I am losing patience in the almost 39% drop so far.

I've been interested in DOL for some time, would you recommend a swap of GSY to DOL at their current prices today? Or should I wait for the GSY report due on 11/10 before I do anything? Please advise.

Q: Guidance seems to be the key factor in reporting season for tech stocks. No one cares if you beat on the current quarter, like ROKU just did. Its outlook is terrible, with higher expenses and higher losses ahead. Do you think ROKU will become a profitable business one day or will the streaming wars never end? Is the end game for ROKU a takeover by NFLX or others?

Q: It seems like everyone is dumping technology and piling into energy. When energy was dirt cheap hardly anyone was recommending and that was the time to buy rather than high flying growth stocks or highly priced renewables. Is the same thing happening here where clearly technology is not in favour and everyone is selling to buy energy as that is the only thing working. Isn't this the wrong way to look at things as you are selling technology low and buying energy high. Your thoughts appreciated!

Q: What does this new purchase do to Surge's schedule to pay down debit and their schedule to increase dividends going forward? Seems the purchase does involve debt financing which you would think would put the debt level back up to more than they were able to pay down in 2022.

What is the current FFO payout ratio, and is it sustainable in a prolonged stagflationary environment should it occur ?

I was thinking of pairing this REIT with something in the Self Storage sector such as LSI. Would this be a good plan, or is there a better REIT pairing ?

In general, I thought REITs overall would be performing better in this current bout of inflation. Is it all about interest rates?
