Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Sometime ago, there was a question requesting your suggestions about ETF's for a young person just starting to invest in a TFSA. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it.

Wondering about ZWC and XUS (50/50) for my 19 year old grandson's first investments in his TFSA but any other recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks as always for your assistance. It is appreciated.

Q: If you believe that the AI bubble will burst this year how might you position your portfolio to profit? I imagine picking defensive names, not owning companies with direct AI exposure, and owning precious metals is a start. If the bubble burst I would assume this would trigger a broader market selloff so not sure if there is a lot of places to hide. Would you consider any Put option strategies? Are there any other sectors/companies that would actually benefit from the bubble bursting? Thanks

Q: Re: RESP

I would a conservative GIC or HISA for CASH remaining in an RESP account, last child about to start 2nd 4 year degree, so it will get used up in the next 4 years.

I presently use BMO investorline. Please let me know what options I have for best GIC OR HISA available , I am not against switching out to another institution i.e. wealth simple.
