Q: Can a case for Crius be made based on a thesis of increased demand and prices for North-American based energy, driven by high growth of the overall US economy? New steel mills (announced this week) and manufacturing in general consume large amounts of energy. Is it reasonable to assume that if prices of gas/electricity start to rise, that fixed priced supply contracts would become more popular?

Q: Stock loss selling/ re-buy within a 30 day period.
If a stock is sold at a loss within a TFSA where a capital loss cannot be claimed, can the stock be repurchased at any time after the sale? i.e. no 30 day waiting period.
Similarly, can that stock (sold in a TFSA) be repurchased in another account be it unregistered or an RRSP?
Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter/Ryan
Your opinion on below statement on Nutrien please. Is this positive for NTR and will support slide ? What will be the impact?
Canadian fertilizer giant Nutrien will auction its 23.77-per-cent share in Chile´s SQM on Dec. 3, the Chilean stock exchange said on Wednesday, a final step toward completing the sale of a coveted stake in the world´s No. 2 lithium producer to China´s Tianqi.
In a statement, the local stock exchange said the minimum bid would be set at $65 per share, for a total package price of $4.066 billion.
Thanks

Q: Not a lot of questions/comments on this one and the last report is June 2017 (unless I have missed something).
It continues to fall. I have been able to sell half of my position so far (liquity). I still have a significant gain on the second half. Should I hang on to this other half or will the likelihood "that earnings will likely taper in 2019" as referenced consensus states, contribute to or cause a stall in the stock's momentum and therefore best set aside this stock for a quarter or two?
As always, Thank You

Q: Hello Peter & Ryan,
After 2 incredibly gut wrenching months on the markets and the so-called repricing of equities, today the markets were cheering and have pushed indexes on both sides of the border into what appears like a 'relief' rally>
My question is a 2 part question:.
1. I would really like your insights into what were market participants betting on today and perhaps going forward. Is this possibly a "head fake" setting the market up for another wild journey or do you think that the market believes that concerns around: (a) interest rates (do not have much further to go) and, (b) that the US and China might be able to agree on a truth of sorts this weekend.
2. If the above concerns (question 1) become reality in the next month or so, what is your advice to members? What should investors chip away at in order to perhaps recover losses and defend their positions. I realize this a very broad question, but would appreciate your top 6 defensive picks, regardless of asset classes, that will boost our portfolios in the next 3 to 5 years.
Thank you very and much appreciate your opinion,
Joseph

Q: Do you know this company and do you have any idea when it will go public?
Q: Good morning Peter & Team,
Part of GM's rationale (so they say) for closing the Oshawa plant and others is to focus on 'autonomous' vehicles that, according to a GM spokesperson, "don't hit each other". How will this affect the core business of Boyd in the medium and long term? Thanks to 5i, I have some fabulous gains on this stock and am wondering if and when I should take some profits. (BYD.UN is 2.55% of our overall portfolio).
Thanks as always for your guidance.

Q: Do you think it is likely that there will be a cut or do you think that the dividend is safe?
Thanks,
Philip

Q: Hi there, which of the 2 names would you prefer in the financial space? Which would do you consider to be less risky of the 2? Thanks!
Q: Which would you prefer? I'm looking for stability and growth over yield and if BX, is it best held in an RSP for tax treatment? Thank you.
