Q: Hello Peter and team, I know you like Endbridge (ENB)very much, you actually have it in two of your model portfolios. According to TMX Money, ENB has a yield of 4.2% and a P/E ratio of 28.0. On the other hand ENF has a yield of 6.2% and a P/E ratio of 15.2. If you had to invest in just one of them today, would you still select ENB rather than ENF? If yes, could you comment on the rationale for doing so. Regards, Gervais

Q: I have not tendered my shares as yet. Currently NXPI is trading within 5% of closing price which I would have to wait to year end to see. Should I quibble about this and tender to collect the 5% or just sell outright for the cash on hand? Waiting to date has certainly paid off if I were to buy QCOM shares today with the proceeds but I don't expect any further widening of that spread.

Q: I reviewed analyses from investing letters services, including Sabrient, New Constructs and GuruFocus. I also read through materials available from the well known financial sites such as Yahoo Finance and Thompson Reuters. I am used to seeing opinions and projections that cover the spectrum-- from excellent to disaster.

On CBRL.us however it looks like analysts are either at one extreme or the other. CFAs are generally not dumb and the opinions being clustered at the extremes puzzles me. Please give your insight and opinion. Although CBRL would not be a ‘must have’ it was recently added by AAII to its model dividend folio. And, after some back tests I now try to follow its models. AAII also advises members to include all its selections. Notwithstanding that advice , I don’t always add a stock AAII likes if for example I lack confidence in some criteria they used. AAII would not however have been casual about this recent selection

In your response, I am looking more for your insight or substance , with your thoughts and instincts, your opinion or thoughts on the future of the industry, and the prospects for the specific company. Thank you.

Q: Hi team
I am a Canadian citizen residing in Canada
I have been investing in some US mutual funds that I bought directly from the US mutual funds, Fidelity Magellan and Vanguard Windsor 2
they do have a withholding tax for dividends and income
My question is that when I sell or redeem the shares in the mutual funds, am I subject to a withholding tax on the amount redeemed, (about 20-30%) and I was told that in order re-claim the withholding amount ;
I have to file a US income tax return and show it to Rev Canada to do so. if you have information, it would be helpful, thanks

Q: Hi there,
I'm curious about something. You don't have many good things to say about Black Diamond Group as an investment, but it's still rated as a 'B' in your latest Coverage Summary, dated April 3rd. A 'B' rating is equal to, or better, than other companies you do recommend. I'm confused by this.
Could you please clear this up?

I just experienced the following with RBC DI which I would like your comments on.
I put in a sell order on Mar 31st for all of my shares of DH after verifying on the DH website that their DRIP program was suspended as of October 25th 2016 and that all future dividends would be paid in cash. So I assumed that I would receive cash for my March dividend. Then today, one share appears in my DH account as a DRIP.
I contacted RBC Direct Investing, ended up talking to a supervisor who agreed to sell my share with no fee. Then I asked how they could process a DRIP on a company who 6 months earlier suspended their DRIP program. It was explained to me that RBC DI has their own DRIP eligible list and it had not been updated as yet for DH change as there is only one person doing this.
I find this unacceptable as I depend on this brokerage to reflect what is happening in the market place. Is this ethical to issue drips, I assume from their inventory of DH shares?In your experience is this normal ?

Q: Hi Peter, Some spring cleaning and making room for new purchases.
I am still having some legacy stocks from BE PORTFOLIO - AYA, CGX, HCG.
Are they sill keep or let them go. The intent would be to replace with AIF CLS, GUD and add on to CXI. Is this sounds good to you. THANKS AS ALWAYS.
