Q: If you we’re looking to buy 5 US stocks with strong growth prospects for. 5 year hold what names would you consider?

I know you dont cover US stocks but do you see any good stocks to buy now for 2 to 3 years growth? Ones that have been beaten up too much. I'm thinking NAVIDA GRUB GOOG but suggestions welcome please. Thank you

Q: Hi team,
I notice you listed TTD as one of your top current U.S. buys in a recent Q&A and I saw it again in Peter’s column in the Financial Post. It seems like you have turned very positive on it. I have been in it for about 6 months but trimmed back before the last earnings which turned out to be a blowout quarter. You just never know with tech earnings. It is now around $125. I am thinking of topping up again.

In the past, you seemed concerned that one of the big U.S. tech guys could easily get into the digital programmatic advertising space where TTD operates. How come no on has and TDD continues to just sail along? Aren’t GOOG, FB, and others concerned about the inroads made by TTD? Could it be a buyout target of one of the big guys?

Q: Hi team,
I am back to TTD again. I bought a 3% position (small for me) a couple of weeks ago. I was tempted to up it just before earnings but held off as U.S. tech can be very volatile and who knows how the market would react. Well, I guess the market approved as the stock jumped 20% on Friday. Hindsight is a wonderful thing! The U.S. analysts are very positive on the story and see a long runway of growth ahead. I think you guys also like the space but were cautious on perhaps someone like Google taking a serious run at programmatic advertising. What I am reading by the U.S. guys suggest that TTD has a competitive advantage over GOOG, FB, AAPL or MSFT as it is unbiased over what advertising platform it would recommend for a client while the big guys would direct advertising just to their own platforms. Would you agree with this thesis or are you still cautious on TTD from pushback from the big guys? I am thinking of topping up to 6% or so if the price settles down again.

Q: Hi team,
I go to the U.S. mainly for tech stocks. I have FB, GOOG and SQ for some time now, happy with all. In Canada, I have KXS (thank you very much), BYL and OTEX (my perennial laggard that I still like).

There are many U.S. tech stocks on my watch list but I will ask about TTD, The Trade Desk. As I understand its model, it is into digital advertising by selling programming on a real-time electronic auction basis. TTD went public last year, had a strong run, faded back and seems to be acting better these days. I have seen positive comments on it on several U.S. business sites in the past month or so. One U.S. analyst (for what that’s worth) had it among his top ideas for 2018.

Your thoughts on this one?
