Q: at 1.40 and heading lower, why would anyone invest in Canadian stocks or bonds for that matter.?..also why cant the government get their house in good financial order to show to the rest of world that we care about balancing the budget? pissed off snow bird...
Q: there are some well known professionals predicting the USA stock market currently points to a bursting bubble , and investors should allocate heavily into bonds to protect the portfolio. If the risk of this happening is drawing near, will the Canadian markets suffer the same fate ?
Q: What has happened to this company? It last traded at 9 cents , said it was going into a reorganization, but I can find no information on it or if there is any value remaining. Would appreciate your comments. Many thanks
I have been holding onto this stock on the assumption that AI would soon enable MDT to market or otherwise exploit their massive amount of product research data and information. Am I too optimistic ? I'd very much appreciate any insights you may have on this, and whether you think its worthwhile to hang on because of this thesis, or move on to a "growthier" stock, such as ISRG.
My other question is about Neo Financial. I see that Tobias Lutke and others have contributed in the second (?) round of financing, which to me means that Neo is quite promising. Do you have any info from your sources on Neo's disruption potential, when an IPO could be expected, etc. ?
Thank you kindly.
Ps. We benefitted alot today from the jump in price of shopify, thanks to you.
Q: You have beaten down on all the the pro's and cons about tel, and bce. My situation is the fact that I have to convert my rrsp to a riff. I am way down on bce and tel, I have no plan to sell, this is my reasoning. the value that I use for with with drawls is the current price and not what I paid. As such my return is 10% and 8 %. My goal is to make enough on dividends to be higher than 5% so I am not taking out for money than I make, since I don'd need the money, and hope a little capital gain thereby not depleting my rrif. Since bce has allready said that they will not increase the payout, I think that tel has a better chance of increasing the pay out, thinking of adding some more. I have some piple lines that have gone up a lot and I am getting a good return on them. Looking to buy a solid company that has a good dividend. What say you, is my plan make sense?
Thanks

Q: Can I have your opinion on this mutual fund. I understand no many funds offer exposure to structure notes.
I have done well with my initial investment and am thinking to increase the position.
What is the risk level?
Thank you
Q: Hello, I am looking at these 3 ETFs to park my cash, now that short term interest rates have come down and ETFs like PSA or HSAV have much less attractive rates than 6 months ago. Can you highlight the main differences between MNY, CBIL and CMR and sort these by increasing risk level? FYI, CMR will add asset-backed paper to its portfolio sometime next year. Thanks!
Q: How is this etf looking in todays fixed income environment for possible safer investment. With US dollars which will be needed in cash a year down the road.
Q: What is the relative performance of S&P etfs over the last 1,3 and 5 year periods for esg qualifying funds versus funds not claiming esg credentials? Trying to evaluate Musk's comments that esg is a sham.
Q: I am looking for an ETF in CAD that does not involve hedging that is focused on manufacturing / industrial with a global focus. If global is not available then at least the focus is on USA. I found XGI but it hedges and has an MER of .68%. VIS will cover USA but is in USD.
Q: We have about 1/3 of our portfolio in a HISA earning about 4%. This was done since at our age ('50's) we decided that was the approximate amount we should have in "non-equities". But we'd like to target a low-risk return on this portion of about 6%, and HISA rates are also coming down. So we want to move this to other "non-equity" areas. What is your best suggestion on this? Bond ETF - of so which ones are best right now? Or other ideas?
Grateful for your thoughts on Avidity Biosciences Inc (rna-q), Janux Therapeutics Inc (janx-q) and Longboard Pharmaceuticals Inc (lbph-q). Worth buying in a TFSA for strong capital appreciation ?
Q: Hello Peter,
For a 30 year old that wants to invest for the long term and not have to worry about following the markets constantly, what is your opinion on investing on the 5 ETFs: 40 % to VBAL ( as it contains bond portfolio) and 60 percent to the rest of the 4 ETFS. I know there is some duplication but wanted your opinion.. thanks for the service.
