I have recently been looking into ATS and what they do as a company. I am quite intrigued as to what they do, and how their "theme" of business applies in todays world. It seems like they might be in a sweet spot so to say with the whole "Made in America" and "supply chain" issue themes here. Which should bold well in todays world and for the foreseeable future. Especially if North America is starting to ween itself off china from making most things. As well as with the whole automation of goods and making manufacturing more efficient. This all being said; what is your take on this company today? And does it hold the potential to be a "multi bagger" per say in 10yrs? I am mostly focused on buying into companies that have great prospects, are somewhat unique, with good growth/ solid management and track records. This being said...looking at the big run up lately...should I be waiting for a pullback to buy into this name? Or, are there better opportunities I should be buying into right now instead? If so can you name a few? Thanks again!

It was mentioned that XHY should be kept in a registered account as it is foreign income. The dividend is shown to be paid in Canadian funds and the exchange is TSX.Where are the foreign income consequences related to holding XHY?

This was a question from feb 6. Asking about structured notes that allow for upside but sell at lower levels to protect from down side risk. Is this not the same as putting at stop sell order on your stock to protect against large loses? But at no extra cost.

Q: Earnings just out. Appears very close to estimates, bit high and a bit low on different metrics. Forward looking view from mgt seems strong. Realize conference call is Tuesday am. Can you provide quick initial assessment and then follow-up after the call with more detail.

Today Feb 6, XLE is $85.45 as I type. I believe i read in the Q and A that you mentioned that if XLE dropped below $85.00 that the sector is rolling over. Is this still the case? If so what would you suggest I do if anything? My weighting is 9.5%. I own ENB, SHEL, HES, TOU, TVE, PEY, SU, PXT with each at varying weights. (ENB being the highest at 3.35% and I realize also a Utility)

Q: Hi 5i Team- Although I am familiar with the following metrics/terms I am having difficulty differentiating them one from the other and having a clear understanding of what each one means. Could you explain the difference between earnings, net earnings and profit. Also what is the difference between cash flow and free cash flow. In addition does free cash flow automatically mean profitability. Thanks.

Q: Follow up to my last question - thanks for the answer. Any comments on the sell sequence and timing for ENB, LIF, NTR and TCL.A. I have done pretty well with all of these except TCL.A which is a bit in the red.
Some of these are cyclical, and your guess on when to sell will be better than mine.

I have an unregistered account with about 12 CDN blue chip stocks. The purpose of the account is to generate dividend income for the next several decades, while providing slow and steady capital growth. I have taken the decision to exit ENB, LIF, NTR and TCL.A and to increase holdings in AQN, NPI, PMO205, XTR. I know timing will never be perfect, but just looking for some timing guidance due to current market conditions and cyclicality of some of these stocks. Trying to avoid horrible hindsight commentry: that was OBVIOUSLY a poor time to make that change....

Answer:
An easy solution of course is to add one of the four once a month and we would be fine with such a strategy. All four buy proposals will have some sensitivity to rates, and Canada has already indicated rate hikes will pause. The bond market expects rate CUTS in Canada later this year, so finishing purchases in June could end up well.

Q: Having recently watched on BNN an expert on technical analysis, could you provide me with your opinion on how important moving averages are and which ones are the best to look at - the 50 day moving average, 200 moving day average or other. Also where would be the best site to go to track these moving averages. I have never paid much attention to technical investing but am starting to think that it does have its place in assessing the success of a stock. Thanks.
