Q: Just to build on the question from Allan today (Nov. 8th) and your answer, can you re-visit your most recent report on SJ and make some comments on what what might change if you were updating that report today? I consider your reports a fundamental and valuable component of your service, and when I re-read your report with the information that we now have there are few things that don’t seem to track. Based on the ratings criteria is this now a B+ (or even B) company? I know “post-mortem” is too dramatic, but maybe a report “de-brief” is in order?
Q: The HVAC industry as a whole seems to have done well but many businesses now seem to be very richly valued...what is your view of that area going forward?
Trane has been a great investment. It is now 5% of my portfolio; given its valuation, if it was you, would you hold, trim or exit?
Or if you see this area as still having potential, rather than adding to TT, do you think SPX or CARR would be good options? Any others come to mind?
What is 5is shortlist preferences for these 3 sectors: Materials, Consumer Defensive & Healthcare.
* 3 USA & 3 CDA choices per would be a great starting point
Q: at 1.40 and heading lower, why would anyone invest in Canadian stocks or bonds for that matter.?..also why cant the government get their house in good financial order to show to the rest of world that we care about balancing the budget? pissed off snow bird...
Q: there are some well known professionals predicting the USA stock market currently points to a bursting bubble , and investors should allocate heavily into bonds to protect the portfolio. If the risk of this happening is drawing near, will the Canadian markets suffer the same fate ?
Q: What has happened to this company? It last traded at 9 cents , said it was going into a reorganization, but I can find no information on it or if there is any value remaining. Would appreciate your comments. Many thanks
I have been holding onto this stock on the assumption that AI would soon enable MDT to market or otherwise exploit their massive amount of product research data and information. Am I too optimistic ? I'd very much appreciate any insights you may have on this, and whether you think its worthwhile to hang on because of this thesis, or move on to a "growthier" stock, such as ISRG.
My other question is about Neo Financial. I see that Tobias Lutke and others have contributed in the second (?) round of financing, which to me means that Neo is quite promising. Do you have any info from your sources on Neo's disruption potential, when an IPO could be expected, etc. ?
Thank you kindly.
Ps. We benefitted alot today from the jump in price of shopify, thanks to you.
Q: You have beaten down on all the the pro's and cons about tel, and bce. My situation is the fact that I have to convert my rrsp to a riff. I am way down on bce and tel, I have no plan to sell, this is my reasoning. the value that I use for with with drawls is the current price and not what I paid. As such my return is 10% and 8 %. My goal is to make enough on dividends to be higher than 5% so I am not taking out for money than I make, since I don'd need the money, and hope a little capital gain thereby not depleting my rrif. Since bce has allready said that they will not increase the payout, I think that tel has a better chance of increasing the pay out, thinking of adding some more. I have some piple lines that have gone up a lot and I am getting a good return on them. Looking to buy a solid company that has a good dividend. What say you, is my plan make sense?
Thanks
