Recently a tech expert came on BNN and mentioned that going forward, it is the SaaS companies that will benefit from AI revolution. His top pick was ORCL. But he mentioned NOW and CRM as well in passing. I looked at these companies using Finviz's screener (free version!) and I see ORCL has a lot more debt than the other two.
What would be your choice? If not these three do you have any other favourites? Many thanks.
Q: I am puzzled that you often recommend Global V Iithium (LIT) .
Even though it is an ETF ( thereby "broader and safer" , in comparison to other lithium plays it has been one of the worst performers . Almost every day it loses value. ughhh
Q: In an answer to an earlier question you said AVAV has been profitable for years. When I call up a quote on my RBC account and on Yahoo Finance they both show EPS of -$5.86 and no PE. Can you explain the discrepancy? Thanks.
Would appreciate your thoughts on GOOS recent earnings.
Market doesn't seem to be too happy with this company today but I didn't see anything that would warrant a 8% drop in value. Given the potential upcoming/current economic headwinds I believe they performed well and lowering their guidance to be a prudent move.
Q: I want to make an investment in the defence sector and have narrowed my focus to these two stocks. Which of the two would you choose and your reasons for doing so. Any comments on these two securities would be appreciated. Thank You.
Q: Do you continue to like TVK as a long term compounder? It's had a decent pull back to $32-33 off the highs. Would this be a good entry point? Recently announced a new credit facility but other than that, not much news still earnings back in Aug. What growth drivers do you see going forward? Looking to possibly sell GDI to buy TVK. Thanks!
Q: Hi, I have a goodly amount of my savings in HYLD for income, and now Hamilton has come out with SMAX. I like the idea of SMAX, as it is not leveraged, and only writes covered calls on 30% of it's holdings. I realize that it is brand new, SMAX, and not very big, but would you consider it to be a better choice down the road, as I am considering switching out of HYLD into SMAX in the future.
Thanks for your patience with these high yield covered call questions.
Q: AEM: notice down a fair bit. TPE approx. 9 & FPE approx. 24? I was thinking of buying as hedge against disaster. Owned Placer Dome way back when. Odd the FPE going up - due to increased costs?
Thanks,
Jim
Q: On October 31st, Lorraine asks 5I to recommend their 5 top Cdn or US energy stocks. SU was omitted. Yet, looking back thru the "questions" library, SU was always recommended as a top pick (usually SU, CNQ and TOU).
Q: Do you still like WIRE? According to one of the Globe's recent guest columnists (a Mr. Teich at Avenue Investment Management) "We've never seen a business with this strong of a balance sheet". He says the market cap is US $2.8 billion which is down from your April commentary. Has the stock been really weak? Are they a copper miner or more of a fabricator?
Any thoughts you have would be appreciated.
Jim
Q: There has been recent news and stock movement for Li-Cycle Holdings and I was wondering if you could comment the company as a potential long term investment?
Is it still too early in their history to invest?
What would you need to see from the company in order to be comfortable investing?
What would be an approximate price where you would consider investing?
