Q: In your last response to VNR ( Nov 5) you indicated that you were not too happy with the stock. Do you still feel this way? I have only a 1.8% weight and deciding if I should add to it or sell and put the cash from the sell into CVD and XHY? I do currently own both CVD and XHY but only at a 2.5 % weight. These stock are inside a RRSP.
Thanks

Q: Hi 5i
This is a follow up to a reply on another members question about "intensive care" monitoring of portfolios.
I was a little surprised with the inclusion of VNR in this list - what specifically causes concern to the extent that you want to keep a closer eye on this one ?
Thanks
Mike

Q: Considering that Valener has dropped in price and that there are price target reductions is this a 'buying' opportunity?
Not quite sure why the reductions in price targets since this is pretty much a monopoly type utility type company ... unless I am missing something?
Thanks for the help!

Q: Hi Team,

Many people look at utilities for the income potential. I was wondering if you could please rank these four utilities for their total return potential for a five-year plus hold. Any particular risks with any of them that I should be aware of? Please deduct credits as needed.

Many thanks, Michael

Q: I own the above companies in my RIF account and want to make an “In Kind” trancfer to my TFSA as well as to my unregistered account. Which one or two do you see as having the best growth possibilities for the TFSA and which one or two would be most appropriate for my unregistered account?
Your advice is always appreciated - RAM

Q: I would like to add to one or two of the above stocks with my gains from Shopify. In a well diversified portfolio I am looking for dividend income with some growth. I hold all of the above just slightly less than a 2% allocation in the portfolio.

Many thanks for your continued support, education, advice and suggestions. I have done well under 5i direction since 2013. Thank you.

Q: I hold these 4 stocks in my LIRA account and do hold some of your other income stock recommended in my RRSP account. I just wonder if these 4 stocks are okay in holding in a LIRA account or would you prefer a different mix of stocks in a LIRA account as both KWH.UN and VNR are utility stocks? If so what do you consider the best 4 stocks inside a LIRA account?

Q: I have been a holder of Valener (VNR) for the past couple of years and during that time have enjoyed a nice yield as well as some modest capital gains.
I am now thinking of switching to Inter Pipeline (IPL) to take advantage of what I consider to be a temporary mispricing by the market.
What do you think of this strategy ?

Q: What are your thoughts/valuation on VNR in the 5i income portfolio?
Based on the entry price, it looks like you bought around mid 2014 and had a nice 40% gain, inline with the other utilities. But now VNR never gets a mention for utilities to own, and the recommendation is always between FTS, AQN, BEP.UN, or NPI.
I'm retired, living on dividend income and interested in being more defensive in my portfolio and increasing my position in utilities.
