Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: I have owned Flutter for some time and am generally pleased with its performance. I am wondering if you are still positive on the name and if you see good growth potentail ahead. If so, what makes you bullish (or bearish). Finally do you see the listing of Fan Duel as likely to happen and is it a strong catalyst that gives us another reason to continue to hold beyond the basic business performance? Many thanks

Q: One of my basic investing tenets was to never buy an airline. But coming out of Covid, AC seemed like a can't-miss prospect (note to self - no such thing in investing!) Since the spring the stock is up about 23% and approaching my break even. This is not an equity that I want to hold for the long term so my question is: does one just continue to ride this momentum, albeit without a plan as to when to sell or just sell it now and be done with it?

I know you can't tell me when to sell but do you think there is still a lot of juice left in this stock?

Appreciate your insight.

Q: I noticed in your disclosure you have an interest in TLT, I hold ZTL which I assume is comparable?

Horizons Seasonal Rotation ETF as of May 31, 2023 has 75% in 0-3 month T-bills & 6% in 7-10 years with no exposure beyond that.

Could you help me understand the risk/reward difference between the ultra-short term and ultra-long term T-bills and which I would be better with in todays market and assumption interest rates may have peaked, or should I cover both ends?

Q: I was considering investing 300k into 2 or 3 of these picks below for almost guaranteed savings. This would be in a non registered holding company.

1. Horizons Cash Maximizer- HSAV (which you have pointed out is more tax efficient since they don't pay distributions and yield gains are building into escalating price, etc)

2. Horizons High Interest Savings-CASH which is straight up high taxation interest gains

3. Purpose High Interest Savings- PSA which is straight up high taxation interest gains.

Please advise if you have a preference for perhaps two picks at 150K, or all three at 100k for example.

Alternatively, if there is another TSX traded option that you suggest, i would look at that too. To be purchased via CIBC Investors Edge.

Thank you.

Q: Good morning 5i:
Next year I will be retiring, and currently I have the outlined stocks in my RRSP, I'm happy with all of them, I think I would like to sell some of them (or trim down, slowly -no rush) and buy stocks/etf that will provide resilience , some yield, and perhaps some growth , can you please provide me with some ideas, 3 or more , I was thinking BN, add more to VFV.
Please use as many credits as required.

THANK YOU for all your help.

Can you suggest several specific companies and/or ETF's to gain exposure to both the Indian economy as well as that of countries like Vietnam?

Q: What are your thoughts on the announced acquisition? Do you feel its a good value pick vs. say Enbridge as the short term price may drop to near the subscription pricing around $20 and the acquisition is roughly 15% accretive. It would appear to me that one would get better downside protection and potentially an extra 20% share price increase over the mid term after the transaction closes.
