Q: Gold in general due to the massive Fed and provincial deficits in Canada

Hi Peter and team
even before Covid, the Fed govt was running a substantial deficit in good time
(comparatively)
the Fed deficit for the next few years (1-5) would be enormous no matter which party takes power
with the debt, for an average investor, I do own gold stocks and ETF
today at 11:30 Wed , one speaker on BNN felt that investors are not keen on buying gold (now off the peak season), he does not like bitcoin either

From your perspective, this could be a good time to buy some more quality gold
stocks and ETF (I know the names that your services recommend) ; I wonder
if you feel that this would be a prudent move, (up to 5 plus percent in ones portfolio)
or there is another sector one could buy as an insurance of the massive printing of our money due to the huge deficits (the US called it Quantitative easing)

looking forward to hear your expert opinion,
thanks

Michael (do own some gold stocks and the ETF for gold)

Q: Regarding their year end release. I noticed they have a cash balance of 16.3M which increased in 2020 despite the terrible year. This is almost 1/3 of its market cap in cash. How positive do you view the ability of this company's ability to weather the storm in 2020 and be diligent enough to increase its cash position. Looking for your thoughts as I am getting more inclined to increase my weight slightly as a spec play. thank you.

Q: Hello, Can you please list in order which one of these Titans would you recommend for a 10 year hold within a TFSA. Or, should all three be held, currently in my US TFSA I only hold COST. I have other investments like ETFs and stocks in my CDN TFSA for diversity.

Thanks,
Robbie

Q: Peter,

I am confused about the value of Quantitative Easing. The Bank of Canada has bought billions of dollars of government bonds, bidding up the price and consequently lowering the yield. I understand this a procedure enacted when interest rates cannot go any lower and they still want to boost the economy. How is this going to boost the economy? It is not lowering the cost of lending and is not creating any jobs. Is the only advantage is to create more liquidity in the lending market?

Thank you

Paul

Q: TD WebBroker assigns a negative $1.93 capital cost of TOI shares from the spinout resulting in a potential capital gain in a cash account greater than the current value of the shares - is this possible?

According to the CSU - CFO the preferred shares, which I believe CSU holds, will be merged with our SVS shares in future at which time the SVS shares will reflect the full value of the business. When will the merger take place? Does this mean our present share value reflects only future growth and could a bump be expected on the merger? Market cap shows as either $3BB or $6BB depending on where you look and does this number therefore reflect the total value with the pfd. shares? Share volume of 40K seems pretty light for an outfit this size, agreed?
