Q: Why is Fairfax so weak ? Is it their insurance and/or capital markets exposure ? It had a good last 1/4. Buy/hold/sell ? Thanks.

Q: All the banks are being hit today, but BMO seems to be getting hit the hardest. Is there a reason for this? I'm thinking of entering a half position looking at a 3-5 year timeline. What are your thoughts?
thanks,
Paul

Q: Was thinking of buying GSY in TFSA now that it has dropped to the 53$ mark. My only real concern is that we go into a recession and loan losses increase. Seems that their loans go towards higher risk borrowers and with possible job losses / lay-offs during a recession the ability to repay these loans decreases. Am I thinking correctly?
Q: I had been thinking abut buying JPM. How will the current market affect JPM and do you consider it a buy? At what price would you be interested?
ThanksJudy

Q: Would POW be regarded as a safe plact to park some cash and collect a reliable dividend ? Joe
Q: Which one of these companies would you rather own and why. Thank you
Q: I was surprised at your answer about EQB. The stock has provided 500% return over last 10 years (before the recent decline). The reasons for not meeting expectations were explained adequately, Is this decline not a great buying opportunity for more than income (after things have settled down)?
Q: MFC was trading yesterday below book value and is down about 5% today. I would appreciate you comments on MFC.
Thank you

goeasy Ltd. (GSY $207.45)
Q: I currently own BNS, BAM and GSY in my Canadian equity portfolio for a total weight in the financial space of about 12%. I am wondering if you would currently favour a switch to SLF from BNS, especially if I could crystallize a taxable loss?
Also a comment about the questions on market timing that you have recently received. If you are reacting to volatile markets it may simply be that you are not as risk tolerant as you believe!

Q: Thoughts on the CN banks? Low rate environment; Cdn economy hampered economically due to low oil and lacklustre mtg/productivity . How does this factor for growth in our banking oligopoly? I would think the 4-5% dividend yield is relatively safe but I cannot see where the stock price growth would come from other than wealth management divisions and perhaps trading which is somewhat risky. Thanks.
Q: H8 I bought this at 75 I’m wondering your thoughts as the price keeps going down buy sell or hold and why thanks

Q: I know you really like BNS but with TD at a 52 weeks low, would you pick it over BNS for a long term holding. (Building a position for dividend income)
Also, can you explain me if there is an advantage to own 2 full positions of banks vs 1 of bank and 1 of SLF (knowing that its your top insurance company pick)

Q: Why has this stock tumbled ? Seemed like a solid dividend play.
Q: You have mentioned the banks deposit base and cost of funding in answer to a few questions. I am wondering what it is the banks fund with deposits?
Mike

Q: Assuming we get a rate cut of 0.5% by Poloz tomorrow, or, over the next few months, how bad will that impact CIBC's NIM and can we estimate the hit on their earnings? Is one bank more exposed to NIM than others? Regional banks are not reacting well right now. Thank you.
Q: Hi Team,
Central banks coordinated rate cut intervention will be negative for bank and insurance sector profitability considering growth expectations are minimal and recession fears also growing. Both BNS and TD are at a 3 year low and dropping further. US banks like JPM have performed much better compared to Canadian banks.
For new money should I wait for further price stability in bank stocks
Thanks
