Q: This is a question further to what has already been recently answered. I also own BIP.UN and BEP.UN. As we know, post spin-off there will be the new BAM, and BN. Which one of these two would best compliment my existing BIP.UN and BEP.UN positions as an add-on ?
Is it best to buy the current BAM.A now and sell the one unit, or does it make more sense to wait after the spin-off......or is too hard to call ?

Q: 2 companies that keep coming up in your forecast of beaten down stocks ripe for recovery are ecn and gsy.i have owned gsy forever and i think most members of 5i get why gsy is a good company, mgmt etc.
but i do not really get ecn, i know steve hudson runs it and he has done it before, but why are you so high on this one as a recovery play.dave

Q: What does the market expect this quarter?
Thx

Q: Hi 5i, only one question ever on VBNK (note new ticker - your system says VB) and it's an old one. I bought years ago, sold 25% at over 100% profit, failed to sell more, watched it descend, now just doubled down. I'm not trained in finance but to me the income statement over 4 years is good (though some expenses up), balance sheet is good to strong, cash flow good but two indicators (investing cash flow and financing cash flow) are negative, and operating cash flow has slowed (down 50% over 4 years). Nicely profitable, low debt, good business model, expanding into US (hopefully a good thing!), what's not to like?
Thanks for all you do

Q: Do you think the $44.00 per hare offer is a fair offer for HCG?
Q: HCG is trading at $42.50 but the offer to be taken over is $44.00. Is there an investment opportunity?
Q: Please help me with my thinking regarding the Brookfield bunch of companies.
Brookfield has for years, been criticized for its complex structure and until relatively recently had been simplifying. However, we now see a lot of activity with the formation of BBU , BAMR , BEPC and the soon to be ( new) BAM. They are selling companies to their affiliated companies ( Westinghouse , BBU to BEP ).
It is getting confusing. Could there some sort of financial shenanigans going on here ?
I have owned BIP and BEP happily for years and am close to buying BAM but am waiting until after new BAM has been spun out. I have looked at investing in all the Brookfield companies at one time or another but believe that Bruce Flatt has made his fortune from BAM stock so it seems best to follow his lead.
Your thoughts are appreciated.
Derek

Q: Between CWB and LB which do you prefer now? Thanks Jim
Q: Hi is there much of a sort position on this stock? Thanks a lot
Q: No press release yet (Nov17) regarding the Nov9 special meeting for the spinoff of BAM Asset Management Business. No doubt this will be approved. But why the silence. Do you have another source? Thanks
Q: I have an account at Wealthsimple. I received an email this past week from them about their Venture Fund I and that they are accepting new clients until Nov 25. This deadline seemed a bit strange to me considering they have never before informed me about this fund. According to them, this fund invests in high-growth potential, pre-IPO companies.Over the past 25 years, venture capital has produced 15% returns on average, versus 10% for the S&P 500.
In your opinion, if the economy is moving into a recession, is this a bad time to invest in Venture capital has a pretty good historical track record of above market returns. Is there anything else you can tell me about this fund?
thanks for your service

Q: Will I get the dividend if I buy on Nov 21 with shareholders of record on Nov 23.
I know that the processing date will be Nov 21, but the settlement date is about 4 days later, which would be after the shareholders of record date. I would appreciate if you would explain (again)
Thank You!
Albert

Q: Can I please get your take on q3 numbers and dividend raise for Olympia?
This company seems to be doing well but doesn’t get much coverage. Thanks

Q: Would you expect Trisura to initiate a dividend at some point? The three closest peers that you note in your January research report all pay a small dividend. Also, do you have an opinion on how long it will be before there is a clear sign that their expansion into the U.S. is succeeding? It seems to me the landscape is littered with companies who failed to crack the competitive U.S. market.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Q: Good Morning,
Of these two, which would be your top choice today for a 3-5 year hold?
Thank You

Q: Hi Guys
Can you outline a bit your thoughts on the Latin American holdings/issues with Scotia Bank eg. Mexico/Chile. Do you see these as short term issues which will resolve in time, view their holdings as having long term value and be a good contributor to earnings going forward (or assets they will be looking to shed), and do you see BNS earning as going down/staying the same/or going up over the next 5 years. And lastly the safety of the dividend?
Much thanks
Stuart

Q: What is the date of when the new Brookfield symbols will trade? If not known, guesstimate? I remember when BIPC was split out, the share price cratered as some people received shares they didn’t want to hold. Do you think the same will happen with either BN or BAM after the split?
Q: Hi team ,
Gsy is falling today. Earnings seemed good last week and I am seeing price target upgrades. I would of expected some strength here instead of sell off. Any reason for the negativity today? Should we be buying into weakness here ? Seems this company continues to be under appreciated and perhaps still relatively under owned. Would you agree this set up makes for great long term buying opp ? Buffett style focusing on fundamentals instead of market negativity? Thanks
