Q: Please provide your opinion on whether ZRE and ZWB would see further downside if the U.S. Fed moves on a rate increase this year; or, does the current unit price on theses etfs "allowing" for a Fed hike?

Q: Hi team,

Can you please recommend few ETFs and/or stocks for a temporary hold of a quarter? The funds will be needed afterwards to purchase properties so capital preservation is a priority. Thanks, Jerry

Q: This is a follow up question from my earlier question about bonds, I didn't explain my question clearly.
Do you have a suggestion for Bonds in Canada as I have no bonds at all and is it a good time to buy?

Do you have a suggestion for international ETF (not bonds) in Canadian $?

Thank you
Colette

Q: I purchased COX.UN at $6.00 on 9 March 2009.I have the right to redeem the shares at NAV until 14 September. I cannot determine the NAV but shares are trading at $7.33 with a 12 month range of $7.20 to 9.40. Would you recommend redeeming the shares and investing the proceeds in shares with a better growth record? COX.UN pays no dividend. What would you recommend for a 80+ year old interested in growth and a dividend?

Q: Hello...thanks again for your great support and advise...i have been looking at the zpr and cpd to take advantage of what looks like a movement in the canadian preferred stocks...could you please comment on these two or possibly a better north american etf that covers this area...i believe with increased interest rates these could possibly be a nice area to move fixed income allotment to ....

Q: I hold almost all of the stocks in the 5i Model Portfolio, 10 stocks in the Growth Portfolio and 7 stocks in the Income Portfolio. I also have VUN for some US companies.
I believe I could add some international exposure and I have no bonds.
What would you suggest for an international ETF and bonds? Is this a good time to purchase bonds?
This would be a long term hold, about 10 years in my LIRA account.

Thank you for your great service! Colette

Q: How would you feel about buying IBB on this recent pullback? Already have CXR and PHM in the space. Or would you prefer IWO as a way to pick up a growthy etf at these lower levels? Already have VUN for broad U.S. exposure. How high of a weighting for either would you go up to for a young investor with a long timeframe? Cheers

Q: Hi Peter, can you please comment on the sector risk, geopolictical risk and market timing of these ETF's. QQQ (tech), XLF (financials), IHF (healthcare), EWG (Germany), EWA (Australia). I can purchase some or all or even wait if you recommend? Jeff

Q: considering purchasing cew or zeb...
would appreciate your short term outlook for the major banks (how low do you think they may go?)
I like the idea of cew ( it adds some protection/diversity that is not available with just zeb!

Q: Peter and Team:
It will be 3 years until the kids start needing funds from their RRSP, and I am slowly selling individual stocks and moving to etfs to spread risk and reduce volatility.
They have good exposure to US Market ETFs, but all Canadian Exposure is through individual equities. Is now a good time to purchase ZCN (or suggested equivalent)?. Also how do you fell about low volatility ETF's i.e. ZLB vs. broader market equivalents.

Thanks for the great service and deduct 2 if you see fit!

Phil

Q: What are your thoughts on this mutual fund? Is there an ETF that you could suggest that is similar to this mutual fund as the cost would be lower. I only want to invest with Canadian dollars

Q: I am panning to add VGH to my TFSA. The distribution history on the vanguard website shows no eligible dividends. Does that mean that there would be no US withholding tax on this investment, as I thought that the tax only applies to eligible dividends.

Q: For fixed income portion of portfolio, I was looking at bond ETF. Do the returns include the dividends for eg. Cbo shows 4.4% return since inception. Does this include the 4% divident. Can you suggest some good reading for learning about bonds and other fixed income products. I would also suggest this as a possible topic for a future blog. For a diversified portfolio would you suggest Canadian, US and other international bonds? Thanks very much. Shyam
