Q: Hi 5i team,

I have 817k in a LIRA to invest. This is a portion of my retirement money that I will rely on for income. I still however would like some growth too. I was thinking 50% in VFV and the balance in a high yield dividend paying etf. Your thoughts and could you please recommend a high yield dividend paying etf. Thanks for your amazing insight!

Q: What do you think of DVYE the Ishare emerging market dividend ETF. Well rated by morningstar in its categorie. I know you recommend VEE / VWO in US version which is what i want. Any red flags, should i stick with VWO for market cap exposure ? May i have your analysis and comments.
Thanks !
Do you think you're going to do some buying in the income portfolio which I was kind of waiting for to get new prospects ?

Q: Please comment on CSU's Q4, including your thoughts on the normalized accounting effects of the bargain puchase gain.
Also, the $20 special dividend, about $400 million total, is 5 years of the usual regular quarterly dividend.
Do you see this as a sign their acquisition plans are slowing down or are they just reaping some rewards?

Q: Hello 5i...The preferred share space took a real hit from which it has not recovered. I am thinking of adding one of the above as part of my fixed income allocation but to my non registered account. All of my fixed income and GIC's are in my RSP. I am conservative age 68 and need 4-5% long term. The recent volatility however does concern me. I value your opinion ..thank you Gary

Q: My sons who are in their 20's currently hold TXF in their TFSA's. Do you think OTEX would be a better fit in a TFSA as they will not need these funds for a very long period.

Thanks.

Q: Could I get your opinion on the potential for VIGI. I am looking for safety with modest growth in my RIF. Is it dependent on Brexit or mainly just the European economy? I also hold MAW102 and VIG which have both performed better than VIGI. I have considered selling VIGI and investing the proceeds 50/50 in the other two. Comment and suggestions appreciated

Q: Recently, I have invested, albeit cautiously,in this compounding financial ETF. These types of ETFs don’t seem to be covered, but it would be of interest to have your assessment.
Thank you, Team!

Q: I understand that the Alberta governments decision to restrict oil production has had the desired impact of increasing the price of Canadian heavy crude but in turn has had the unexpected impact of making shipping oil by rail uneconomical. - volumes being shipped are down dramatically in the past few weeks. What portion of CNR earnings relate to oil shipments? Do you think that this will materially affect CNR Q1 earnings, and if so, is that already reflected in the current share price?

Q: First I want to just thank-you for making me a better investor not just with your recommendations but with your approach. Covalon has. in Appendix B of their annual statement included the notice of the change of auditors. The 'resignation' of BDO is, as it turns out, at the request of Covalon. We are also informed (elsewhere) that there will be no vote on the financial statement. I have gone through about as many of their recent Sedar filings as I can take and perhaps I am reaching here, but is this normal practice to you? Any red flags?

Q: In my portfolio I have following Canadian equities: AQN (4.9%), BCE (4.78%), BNS (4.64%), WXM (4.5%), SIS (3.8%), BEP (2.68%), MG (2.29%), KXS (2.03%), PBH (1.94%), MX (1.92%), COV (1.87%), TSGI (1.76%).

I have a full positions worth of cash I would like to add to my Canadian content and was wondering on your thoughts as to adding to one new stock (ATD.B, WSP, CCL.B, other suggestion), 2 half positions, or adding to my existing positions.

I have a 20 year time frame and comfortable with some risk.
Thank you.
