Q: Hello 5i,
I am not very bullish on the Canadian economy considering the provincial and federal politics and lack of leadership in regards to the Energy and now Agricultural Industry.
So I am thinking of splitting my portfolio up into 3 categories, Growth Stocks, Dividend Paying Stocks and ETF's for global and sector diversification. ZLU & ZWH for US low volatility and Dividend, CDZ for Canadian Dividend and VGRO & XWD for global diversification and growth. Your thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks,
SF

Q: Any thoughts on this reverse takeover - the reason i ask is that their product seems to have a bit of a following but I am concerned about a few of the players in this one. It is small so more interested if you have any knowledge of the management.

Q: I hold some ING in my US margin account and was puzzled by this statement from the ING report of Feb 12, 2019
Proposed dividend of €1.10 per share
In line with the Group's dividend policy, a proposal to distribute a dividend of €1.10 per share will be presented to the Annual General Meeting of shareholders on 11th June 2019, representing a distribution rate of 36%. This dividend will be payable in cash or shares, according to the holder's preference.
Is this an annual dividend?
If not annual how often is it paid?
Is one share of an ADR = one ING share?
In USD should I consider that about $1.25?
Thanks....

Q: As a follow up to my earlier question about GSY. I see their Free Cash Flows are highly variable over the past few years and were negative (-228 million) in 2018. With negative cash flows, how do they cover their dividend, and what is they payout ratio?

Q: Hi,
With the takeover of GS, I'm looking for a new name in the world of Canadian Finance. I can't find a company that pays the great divy (with special) that GS did, so I'm looking for some growth. With the recent pullback of GSY, would you support moving my cash into GSY as a within-sector replacement?
When did GSY last raise their divvy and did they give a reason why?

Q: This question is in regard to how Revenue Canada handles the buying then selling of this mutual fund: TD US Investment Savings Account which has been my vehicle to put US cash. In doing my taxes the proceeds of this fund appeared on my T5008. This proceeds are balanced by purchases, however the Canadian dollar has fallen in value. Technically this is a capital gain. Is it? If so, this type of fund can cost money, and are there alternatives?

Q: GSY seems to be having a few bad days. With so much recent good news ,dividend rising, by 38% and increasing the number of share buybacks to 8%, this falloff seems surprising. Am I missing something here?
Q: this is a comment on questions about CDN companies and US dividends:
At NBDB I transferred Magna shares from CDN RRSP to US RRSP. The shares were journaled from MG to MGA. I get US dividends. No exchange fees. Dividend exactly what it is suppose to be.
Question to 5i: any possible downside of holding US shares instead of CDN shares?

Q: Bought a year ago at $55.00 and now down quite a bit. I own 1000 shs and was thinking of adding another 1000 shs - just > dividend substantially & plenty of contracts. At 2000 SHS would be a very small % of total portfolio.
