Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Hi 5iTeam - There seems to have been a substantial amount of insider selling in both of these companies over the past few months. Could you please comment on this as well as the overall insider holdings in each of the two companies. It looks like both companies are quite similar in their business model. Could you please let me know if this is an accurate assessment. Also if you were to choose one or the other for an investment which one would it be or are they relatively equal. Thank you.

Q: This company seems to have reasonable ROE (just under 20) and good growth but has sold off with several large blocks transacting recently despite positive analyst coverage. It reports this week so I don't plan to jump into a position but I wanted 5i's opinion on whether mid $30's represents an attractive entry point for a company that has exposure to a variety of Pharma companies? Would it be a buy, sell or hold for you and what would it take in terms of a news event or drop in price to make it a buy? What do you like and/or dislike about the company?
Thanks!

Q: Good morning,

I recently started selling puts and put credit spreads in SPY, QQQ, IWM and AAPL, these being among the most liquid underlyings with very tight bid-ask spreads. Things have worked out well, so far, as the market has been moving higher and higher.

I'm told that my positions are highly correlated and should consider underlyings that are not as correlated to the broad markets. Could you suggest some underlyings that I can consider? I prefer liquid underlyings so that I can exit them quickly in the event the trade goes against me.

Thank you

Q: Please comment on the earnings report. Specifically are you concerned that revenue growth is being swamped by increasing cost and cash outflows? Are the expense increases in categories that support future growth, such as r and d, or they just drags on performance like salaries, stock compensation etc.

Q: Hi Everyone at 5i! What are your thoughts about the merger between LEGO and Algoma Steel, and would it be something you would be interested in? There is however, some sort of legal issue mentioned on Yahoo. Cheers, Tamara

Q: My nephew recently built a PC and we got talking about processors. He suggested that many companies, such as NVDA, have increased sales due to their usefulness for Bitcoin mining operations which has, in turn, driven up the price of graphic cards. If one was concerned that Bitcoin is a tulip, how would you go about trying to think through the relationship between bitcoin mining and chip sales and component prices? Your ideas are most welcome, Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i,

SFTC has really taken off in the past week or so. I can see no news on this one which would drive the price action. Are you aware of anything there?

Today, TD rated it a buy with a $28 target. It closed Friday around $34. I know you are not fans of target prices but would it be at best a hold, based on the TD target? TD does like its overall prospects. It gets 20% of its revenue from MSFT and MSFT has done well. In addition, it views CDW as a close peer of SFTC and CDW recently reported strong numbers.

What are your current thoughts on SFTC since its IPO a few months ago?

Thanks again.

Q: I have a question about 1037 .
Would you expect increase in this stock value along with the infrastructure bill passage in US. It has a significant presence in US.
Would it be treated as US company for the infrastructure projects in US despite domiciled originally in Canada? Or the directive buy US would be a problem for this company?
Thank you,
