Q: How do companies decide on which exchange to list their company?

I see many questions on 5i specifically regarding Canadian companies listed only on the Canadian exchanges (eg. LSPD) sometimes both Canada and the US (like SHOP), or possibly only on the US market (LULU). And recently SDX going off to England, I believe.

Many of those questions relate to portfolio re-balancing thanks to PA.

So, all of this leads me to wonder what goes into deciding where to list a new company.

What would a “checklist” look like for making this decision? (Canada vs USA vs both).
As a general rule and given the size of the American market wouldn’t they be better off listing right from the get-go on the NASDAQ?

Thanks for the “lesson”.

Q: I often read mentions of "full position" or "half position" here. What is a "full position" in a stock? Pardon me for a naive question.

Thanks.

Q: Retired income oriented long term (10 year focus) investor.
Already own CPD, CVD and XPF.

In the process of rebalancing asset allocations with the objective of increasing fixed income, and given the current interest rate environment can a case be made for buying one or all of these stocks? Why or why not?

Any other thoughts also appreciated.

Thanks.

Q: What is your view of structured products such as PaRs and PPNs? I had thought you had previously commented on these products but cannot locate. These products appear to be designed by the financial industry for selling rather than real investor needs.

Q: I would appreciate your take on Saputo's results.Revenues are up for yoy and qtr vs 3rd and last year but earnings appear weak. Is this a one-off due to the recent acquisition or something more concerning. Quite frankly I have difficulty judging the impact of IFRS accounting on the income statement. I look forward to your insight.
Thanks
Ian

Q: In your answer to a June 5 question from Russel ( about no withholding tax on US dividends when held in an RRSP), you said "However, the important distinction to make is not what currency the ETF is based in, rather what country the ETF is listed in." So, are there any Canadian dollar denominated ETFs listed in the USA?
If so, does that mean there would not be any withholding tax on dividends from them if they were held in an RRSP or a RRIF, and does that mean that there would be an advantage to investing in them ? What are your thoughts about this idea? Thanks.
