Q: Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a good base metals mine, who pays a dividend, for a long term hold. I have been leaning towards BHP, but would rather avoid the USD exposure. Who would you recommend?
Thanks,

Q: What are a few relatively safe material sector stocks that my daughter, mid 30's, could thinking about holding in her RRSP for the long term???......thanks for the suggestions as me, I tend to shy away from material sector stocks.........Tom
Q: Any comments on reliability of dividends for these commodity giants? Which do you prefer?
Q: If you could only hold one company in the materials sector for long-term what would that company be?
Q: I'm looking for some companies in the materials sector that pay sustainable/growing dividends (above 4%) with solid balance sheets and strong growth outlooks. Could you suggest some of your favourites. My focus is Canada but global companies are acceptable.
Q: Looking at adding Rio Tinto or BHP Group. Would you consider them buyable right now or should I wait until Chinas picture becomes a bit more clear? Thanks
Q: I am low on materials stocks, with only FNV in my current portfolio. I am wondering about adding either BHP (about to become a significant potash producer) or NTR. Do you have a preference, or is there another choice that you think would be even better?
Q: Currently I hold both of these diversified metals companies (3.72% position in RIO and 1% position in BHP). BHP is a fairly recent addition. I have held RIO since 2019 and have added over time. I am questioning the wisdom of holding both companies and thinking of selling BHP (small gain) I consider RIO the best choice for a long term hold. Would appreciate your comments please.
Q: Please comment on each of these companies. Would like to add to RIF account. Interested in the material sector. Do you have another suggestion if neither of these are stable in your view. Thank you.
Q: Hi. Would like to buy a copper producer in recognition of expected long term demand. I show a couple I like and hope you might add one or two more and then rate from best to worst taking into account current valuation, stability, management, dividend, etc. With thanks, Don

Q: I just received a few hundred shares of an ADR, Australia-based Woodside Energy Group WDS-N from a spin-off of my BHP-N holdings. I must admit it caught me off guard as to the event. There is not a lot of data available on this Perth-based energy firm. It appears to of had a decent run lately. What I am interested in is the fact that its geography in South Asia, an area I have not really had much exposure to. Is it a valid company (in your view to hold for the near term?) The purpose would be purely for speculation. I feel oil and gas firms are near the peak in pricing so do you think selling is a better option. Thanks JIM
Q: Looking for higher, sustainable dividend income.
What do you think of BHP in that regard?
How Lumen Technologies ( LUMN )?
Thanks again.

Q: With the surge in commodity prices I bought positions in BHP and RIO. My portfolio is well diversified and mainly in value supported by yield. BHP and RIO combined only represent 3.3% of the total portfolio.
What concerns me at this point is the current noise about a potential recession later this year. That could hit metals and minerals fairly hard, particularly if the recession, if it happens, is worldwide. Spending on infrastructure construction as well as the demand for manufactured products could decrease substantially.
My first question is whether you support this scenario of a late 2022 recession. My second, obviously, is whether it's time to trim, sell, or just chill and ride out any downturn in the economy as I generally do. I do like the dividends of both RIO and BHP although they could easily be cut.
