Q: I was interested in Brookfield Asset Management CEO Bruce Flatt's comments during a BNN interview with Amanda Lang this week. Flatt said that "We are close to 11 years into this economic cycle. I don't think economic cycles have been repealed; there will be a recession." He added that Brookfield is more cautious today than it was in 2009 during the world financial crisis. His company is holding lots of cash and staying diversified to weather the downturn. With 5i's years of investment experience, I would appreciate your opinion on the risk of a recession and your recommendations for capital preservation of investment money if such a situation might occur. Q: Hi,

I have a question about timing the market. I know the old saying that its not about timing the market, but time in the market. However, 10-11 years into this bull market, how do you juggle wanting to invest in good quality names if you believe the market may slip into recession in the next 12-18 months? Should you keep a percentage of your portfolio in cash? What if the recession doesn't come for another 3-4 years?

Q: I will be coming into some cash around the middle of next summer and will be re-orienting my portfolio towards income. I want to have 4%+ overall yield. To that end I am looking for a bunch of higher income stocks so I can hold on to my low or no yield, growth stocks. Specifically I am looking at stocks that have over 6% yield and whether you think a full or partial position makes the most sense for each. Please deduct as many credits as you see fit. Thank-you.

Q: Hi there, I'm thinking about reducing my position in WIR (taking profits) and entering MRT. Can you tell me why the steady decline in MRT sp since 2015 and do you see a reversal any time soon or any other catalyst on the horizon?
Or would I be better off sticking with WIR, or perhaps you have a better suggestion.

Q: Hi 5i Team,
I am looking at gradually building up positions in the above stocks over the next year as part of a diversified small cap growth portfolio.

Could you please comment on them and their growth prospects? If their is an economic downturn how does their survivability look? Are their any red flags that I'm missing?
In what order would you start buying them given today's price?

Q: Gud has now 51% and yet BIO trades at $10.15 BRL, about 16% below the offer price.
What do you read into this. Is there an opportunity here ? Can I buy BIO, should I ?
Will GUD offer less than they offered the private previous owners ? When will GUD start reporting earnings from this acquisition ? Do they need all the shares to do so ?
Finally do you see more analysts stepping in now with this new acquisition, maybe one or two will make it their top pick in 2020 ? Thoughts?Thanks

Q: Hi there,

This is a cancer biotech focused on melanoma and cervical cancer. It sounds like several promising trials are underway. I just read about it on Seeking Alpha and CNBC shows 8 analysts covering with 5 strong buy and 3 buy recommendations with a consensus target of $35 vs a current price of $22.83. What are your thoughts regarding a position within a TFSA?

Q: I own a small position in PRO REIT PRV.UN. It has performed well and would like to add more units to my position. What is your opinion on this Reit and its ability to continue to grow and pay its distributions? Do you consider it risky and if so do you have other REIT's that you would recommend in this space?
