Q: Good morning 5i.
I would appreciate 5i's comments on Forward P/E ratios published in major reporting entities like Globe Investor.
Are these based on consensus analyst projections of forward earnings? Do the forward earnings forecasts exclude large non-recurring transactions (that could flip a 'real' 22 Forward P/E projection into a more attractive looking 11?
In summary, what advice would 5i have on the above, and how much should one take an "attractive looking" forward P/E into consideration when thinking about a stock?
Thank you.

Q: Is it advisable to sell HBND for a tax loss (down 13%) before year end?
If inflation looms or bond vigilantes are at work, long-term bond yields could go up from here.
Appreciate your thoughts

Q: Groupe Dynamite released a very strong Q3 earnings report on Tuesday, with same store sales growth over 30%, earnings per share up 75% and declared a $2.30 special dividend. I have been building a position in this stock since September. What did you think of the earnings report and do you still think it has good upside potential over the next couple of years?

Q: I just read Peter’s rockets and duds, I would like to jump on the bandwagon for these 3 companies - if it makes sense to do so.
What advice can you provide given the rocket ride so far? Can they go up more in the near future? Thanks.

Q: Good Day team, Been down 48 to 50% for long time. My book price was 32.51.giving me yield of 3.6. Considering double down for a yield of 4.8. This would use up my allowed contribution room in TFSA .So selling would give no tax loss advantage . Better place for new money or ? Much appreciate your insight. Thanks Larry
Q: We're approaching January, many of which have a lot of turbulence as fund managers sell winning stocks/sectors from this year to buy into what they think will be the winning stocks/sectors for 2026. Do you have any insight on what we should expect from them this time around? Canadian banking has been insanely good this year. Will they bet on that continuing or sell off to buy tech? Or will they go for gold or the long neglected healthcare or real estate sectors?
I presume there will also be a lot of retail selling of winners this year from people who put it off so the taxes would be delayed. Though I'm not sure how much retail moves the needle compared to funds.

Q: Would superficial tax loss apply to this scenario?:
Selling stock at a loss, buying a call option on the same stock and selling the option at a profit within 30 days.
Obviously, if one cashes in the call option within 30 days of selling the stock at a loss, it would be considered a superficial loss, right?
Thanks for the answer and have a nice holidays

JPMorgan US Equity Premium Income Active ETF (JEPI $25.28)
Q: JEPI can be bought in either USD or CAD. If I buy it in CAD is the dividend paid in Canadian dollars and therefore no 15% holdback if held in a non registered account?
Would the same apply to JEPQ?
Thanks

Q: Having erroneously believed that momentum runs in a straight line, I purchased both of these equities in a 'new' account, earlier in the year, near their lofty heights. Are either of both considered a reasonable candidate for a tax loss sale? To be re-purchased a month or so later per your recommendation?

Q: I liked this question from Todd in November:
"I’m only interested in Canadian compounders. Compounding companies that are mid to large cap that I am invested in are CSU, TOI, LMN, TFII, and ATD. Can you recommend 5-10 possibilities for 5-10 year compounders in the Canadian small cap space?"
Can you change "Canadian" to "American" and answer the same way for small/mid cap American companies?

Q: Greetings 5i team,
Any thoughts on allowing members to use question credits to purchase other services you provide? I ask few questions but thoroughly enjoy the Q&A aspect of my subscription nonetheless. For instance, a member might opt to increase the # of companies on their watchlist using Q credits since this number is restricted to five for non portfolio analytics subscribers. Or they might use credits to use portfolio analytics for longer than the 30 day trial period. This might be cumbersome to manage but just a thought.
Thank you again for the great service you provide.
