Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: As a pensioner, I just came into $150K of "extra" money that I would like to invest in the 5 year and more time frame. (I'm optimistic). I would like 6 names you can recommend within the following framework.
1. Must be TSE listed company.
2. Much of the income must be from outside of Canada.
3. Must be in the top tier of stable companies.
4. Should be growth rather than dividend focused.
Three "ideal" investments I have in mind is TD, MG, and BAM.A. So along this line, what can you recommend? Thank You.

Q: I am considering initiating a small position in Helius Medical Technology because I am really interested in the treatment options for neurological disease/trauma they could potentially offer. After reading about their PoNS device in various books and articles, I recently discovered they have gone public. I know it is very early days, but in your opinion, is it a worthy investment opportunity? I would be purchasing a small amount as part of the "speculative" part of my portfolio.
Thanks for the help you guys provide day in and day out, Rory

Q: Magna and Linamar are down $25,and $33 in one year. Are things that bad? Are they cheap now? Would you think it is time to start buying a 1 percent position in each since they are good companies anti have no idea where the bottom price is or do these prices look close to a bottom?

Q: Hi there, can you please comment or provide analysis on how CXR, IT, AYA and others within the portfolios would be affected due to the Brexit vote coming up soon, considering revenues from European region and due to FX? I believe Brexit vote may be causing stock price weakness for CXR, maybe? Also, would anyone want to take out CXR before the Brexit vote knowing how volatile Europe would be if England exited? Thanks!

Q: As a follow-up to CXR, I believe the uncertainty of the Brexit vote is also impacting share price, since AMCO is based out of the UK. Word on the street is any offer from Apollo Global Management is depenent on Brexit not going through. We may not see any recovery in share price until after the vote.

Regardless of the above, the uncertainty offers yet another opportunity to acquire CXR shares at a very attractive valuation (considering management offered good guidance at the last earnings call).
