Q: Thanks for the income model. I plan on using it as a buying guide. I am retired with 100% in GICs. I plan on using about 15% of the GICs to buy the model. However, with such a high percentage of fixed income in the GICs, I wonder about the fixed income portion of the model. Should I replace the first 4 securities with equity? If so, please make some suggestions. Thanks Tim...

Q: Good afternoon,
I would appreciate your view respecting a potential investment in Wisdom Tree (WETF). My goal would be solely capital appreciation.
Thank you.

Q: Hi Peter and Team,
I bought the 5 income ETFs from the 5i model income portfolio and have enough cash to buy 2 more stocks. Of the following I don't yet own, which would you consider to provide the best chances of reliable long term income?
BCE
DH
ETL
SPB
SGY
VNR
WSP
Please note I also already own all the other income stocks in the portfolio as well as Stantec and Telus if that affects your response. Otherwise I have a well-balanced portfolio.
Thank you very much. Michael

Q: Can you give 1 or 2 names of also rans for the model portfolio and the income portfolio i.e. You almost decided to put them in there. Many thanks for the great service.
Q: I own the following ETFs for international exposure. EFV, SCZ, FEZ, VTI, VBR, VNM and VWO. I am trying to maintain a 30% of international ETFs. 1/3 in each of US, developed countries and emerging markets. I'm needing to add more emerging and thought I might add ILF to the mix. I would value your opinion on my overall choices and what you think about adding ILF or should I stick with VWO and VNM. Thank you for your valuable service.

Q: re: CSX Corp
CSX has been ok Q1 2014 but nothing to write home about. Sluggish performance is attributed to weak Coal shipments. I'm ahead right now about 3% and their Q1 earnings will be up next week. I am seriously thinking about getting out before the earnings announcement then jumping back in as I do believe CSX will perform well over the long term through improved intermodal & expansion plus it is relatively cheap for the sector.
Your thoughts?

Q: good morning,
could you clarify joe's april 9 comment regarding having your broker "journal" inter listed stocks from Can. to US listing and then selling to raise us funds? Assuming the stock performs flat over the holding period, does this circumvent the bank charges that your would normally incur if you just bought us funds?
Thanks,
John

Q: Further to the question from Terrance this morning, TD is not overbought according to RSI today. It is currently at about 61, really, a pretty good score. This number changes daily and, like any of the other momentum indicators, should not be considered a buy or sell signal in isolation.
I agree with 5i, technical analysis is another tool along with fundamental analysis. But, don't buy anything unless the fundamentals are favourable (that's why I subscrible to i5 Research). And, don't worry about the technicals unless you understand the whole picture.

Q: Was reading where it says TD is entering overbought territory with a RSI value of 73.5,could you explain this
Q: Good morning and thanks for the great work.
I currently own BEP.UN and have for a year or so it has done basically nothing in that time. I am condidering replacing it. What would be your top three picks in this area and would you consider replacing this stock if you are looking for growth long term.
Thanks Jon

Q: In the past few months you have recommended certain ETF's of which I have kept track off. What I was wondering which ETF's you suggest are best suited in a RRIF for a person aged 74?
Some of them that I have been following are CDZ, CPD, CUD, XEG, XGD,XLV & XWD. Are there others?
Look forward to your usual intelligent response.
