Q: I am trying to construct a barbell style Canadian portfolio.Can you name 5-6 growth names you favour and 5-6 defensive names that I might be able to build this with ?

Q: For industrials, currently hold TFII, ATS, TRI. In that order of weighting. Also have WSP, NVEE, AXON on my watchlist.

I'm happy just sticking with 3, but 5-6 is great if they may improve my performance or diversification (if the new companies are similar quality).

If it was you, would you add more to the 3 holdings, or add one of the others? How would you rank the 6 names as far as quality and resiliance of the companies go?

Q: Good morning,

If I were to inadvertently trigger the superficial loss rule by selling a security in my wife's cash account, and then forgetfully buying that same security back in my LIRA say 15 days later, would the CRA automatically catch it? Or would they only catch it through an audit? Or should it be self-reported? Just want to better understand how to rectify the error.

Q: How material is today's Suncor news? : "Suncor Energy (TSX: SU) (NYSE: SU) announced today that it has agreed to purchase TotalEnergies EP Canada Ltd., which holds a 31.23% working interest in the Fort Hills oil sands mining project (Fort Hills) for $1.468 billion". I understand that there is a withholding tax on US dividends within a TFSA. Is the same thing true for interest from a GIC (US GIC denominated in US dollars)?

Q: I hold KO in an RRSP as a defensive stock as well as collecting the $US dividend. The defensive aspect has taken a hit lately, and I am looking at this as a buy opportunity. I would appreciate it if you could provide your assessment as to why the steady decline in share price of late and your thoughts on adding to this stock.

AMD had a large increase in shares trading hands ,29M, and price movement which looks like it started at around 10 am....any news or other catalysts on your radar what might be happening to prompt action....something related to jobs report maybe?

What price point would you consider attractive/possible under current conditions etc

Q: There is a ( very) new ETF, coming out from Horizon with ticker QQCL being a covered call Nasdaq 100 with anticipated yield of 14.10 %.
This seems to be attractive for my TFSA for higher growth (with volatility which I can handle), along with a high yield.

I have bought several of these products, HTA, HHL, UMAX for both my registered and non registered accounts. They seem “ too good to be true “ and am wondering if that’s true. I have seen many of these enhanced products ( remember flow through shares ?) and hope these do not repeat.
Your thoughts on QQCL and on these ETF’s in general would be appreciated.
