Q: Hi there

I was thinking of investing about 2.5% of a diversified portfolio in Fairfax Financial as a bit of a hedge on the maket not really going the way it is going now - up. But I see today Fairfax is removing many of it hedging positions betting the market would decline. Two questions:

1) Will this cost them much to get out of these contracts and will this affect their next quarter results?

2) Given it has pulled way back from its highs do you see it as a buy here?

Much thanks

Stuart

Q: Hi Peter
Can you comment on Binary Options? My friend put $10,000 with Magnum Binary options two weeks ago and has been told that she is now at $10,750. They recommend that she increase her investment to $50,000 and they will manage it to make her some money. She is dealing with a fellow out of Bulgaria and it sounds a little scammish to me. Any thoughts?

Q: Would you please provide an update on your opinion of this company. About six months ago you indicated that you were concerned about its debt levels. Has the situation improved since then? Do you have any new concerns? I have a very small position in it and was considering supplementing it depending upon your response. Alternatively, considering its risk level do have any others in this field that you would prefer?

Q: I have losses between 55% and 33% on the following list of stocks. DH 55%, PIH 48%, TPK 46%, CAM 33%. My regret is not so much in the losses but rather not having the good sense of using stop loss orders. Would you appreciate your opinion regarding stop loss orders and if you would continue to hold these stocks. With thanks, Bill

Q: I am concerned about Chemtrade based on poor quarterly results, closing risk of Canexus takeover, high distribution ratio, lack of dividend growth. Subject to your comments on Chemtrade, I would look to replace it with Telus (T) or a consumer defensive stock. In the latter case, I would be looking for a dividend yield of at least 4%.

Q: ARC (Accountability Research Corporation, April 2016 report) noted a trend to reduced transparency in AQN's financial reporting, saying a number of relatively small items, previously reported separately, were now lumped into the "Other" category. Does 5i have any concerns about this relative to AQN results/forecast? Would appreciate your comments. Thank you.
