Q: How is CEF.A valued? Is it just the number of ounces of metals times the current price of gold or silver to arrive at a NAV? Today CEF.A trades at 7.2% discount to NAV and I'm trying to determine if this is a good buy....or not. How can it pay a divvy, as tiny as it is? Any chance of your expert advice in blog form? The root of these questions is that I would like to hold some physical gold, this fund seems a easy way to do that but I do not understand the "under the hood" part. Their website is vague also. Thanks for your insight. Ron

Q: Best wishes to the team for 2017. Your independence and objectivity are always refreshing and welcome.
BTW. How do you estimate US or International exposure for nominally Canadian companies as diverse as TD Bank and Enbridge? Apologies if you have already addressed this.

Q: Hello Peter,
Your decision to sell IT took me by surprise. After holding it for nearly two years through short attacks and volatility, you have decided to give up on it just when things seem to be falling in place, with the awaited catalyst and an upward momentum. What has changed?
Is the valuation that was earlier considered cheap at this price is not cheap today? Has the growth slowed? Or is the financing and cash flow not good enough? Do you anticipate IT to trade at even lower multiple in London?
I would appreciate if you could give your opinion on the questions above. In addition , any further elaboration on your decision will be appreciated.
Regards.

Are there any ETFs that can be used for agricultural commodity futures? Or what do you think would be the best way to take advantage of rising agricultural commodity prices directly.
Thanks.
Terry

Q: Hi guys,
I'm to mirror the growth portfolio. Within the growth mandate, what are good growthy CAD$ substitute for IWO? I don't have enough $$ for it to be worthwhile to convert to USD.
Thanks,
Elliott

Q: Today's Financial Post has an article "American Apparel LLC said it had started to lay off staff on Monday, after Canadian apparel maker Gildan Activewear Inc withdrew its initial plan to acquire some of the bankrupt U.S. fashion retailer’s manufacturing operations."
Going forward, do you think this will affect the stock price which already seems to be on a downward trajectory?
Is there now a "Trump Effect" with some Canadian companies that have a sizeable US footprint like Gildan, among others?
Thanks in advance for the timely advice.

Q: My assessment of the insider selling in November was as a result of the very tight market for shares with the founders owning over 50%. In other words, I believe that they 'sacrificed' a small portion of their holdings simply to provide liquidity for investors.
I also note that CFO Andrews has been buying steadily and was buying on the open market as recently as December 30.

Q: Good morning,
Just a comment / question stemming from Bob's question today about shorting oil ... HOD-T would be another option. BetaPro 2x daily oil bear on TSX. Your thoughts?
Thanks, Rod C.

Q: Please share your analysis for Fossil Group Inc, thanks.
Q: Any update on softwood lumber agreements? What are your thoughts on ADN and WEF? I hold a smidge of each and have been waiting to add to positions.
Q: I've held AMTD for around 4 years and it done quite well for me. I hold it in a LIRA which I will have to start drawing on in two, years. What are your thoughts on the stock? If I sell it I would probably look at buying something more conservative like a fixed income ETF?
