Hello Peter:

Today you made this distinction between "Safe" and "Secure" dividends in your answer to Grant asking about Superior Plus : "We would consider the dividend 'secure'. 'Safe' is a different category completely".

1. I am looking to concentrate on companies whose dividends you consider to be in the "safe" category, and which yield over 3.5% as these should/must be at least the main core of any pensioner's holdings for reliable income. This can be confusing to sort out since I presume that you will not consider all banks, utilities, telcos, REITS, Pipelines, etc. qualify as "safe".

2. So if you could sort out a short list of the few that qualify for the "Safe Dividend" category it would be most appreciated. I do understand that disasters do occasionally happen, and any company no matter how safe can get into trouble.

2. This brings up the problem of portfolio concentration caused by owning only a few names or sectors. Is it better or "ok" to just own a portfolio of only "Safe" dividend stocks, or are we advised to dilute the quality of our portfolios and own some less safe dividend stocks to supposedly "diversify" risk? This harks back to the people whose portfolio consists of only the big five Canadian Banks and who have done brilliantly for the past 50 years!

Q: Prior to Brexit there was considerable discussion about the need to address Cdn house price overvaluation, likely through mortgage terms. I note that both MKP - MCAP and Timbercreek have worthwhile dividends, provided their pricing remains stable or positive. I note that you like MCAP but the question is what do their future prospects depend on?

Q: I have noticed with low trading companies, quite often a bid or ask of one lot hiding behind it a larger numbers of bids and asks. Often enough I put my bid or ask 1 cent lower or higher than the competing bid or ask and that particular one lot bid or ask moves ahead of me. Are these traders trying to hide the larger number from regular investors that don't have access to second level quotes? What would be the purpose of their actions.

Q: I am confused about Intertain, which I like. It took a hit a while back because of the controversy surrounding gaming stocks, but earnings are doing quite well, growth is on track, and evaluation seems (to me) low, especially with good growth prospects. I realize that BREXIT calls into question a take-over of parts or all of the company, but I thought if a take-over happened it would be around $20. Why are we sitting at $10? Do you think the metrics merit such a (low) stock price?

Q: Hi guys

Can you look into LND'S latest report and comment it on it?. I bought this around $ .70 and have watched it fo down like the titanic. I liked the fact that they were trading at less than cash on hand and making money, it is baffling me.I was looking for it to rebound or start forming a base before I bought more, in the old days I would have jumped in and averaged down, but now I wait for a reversal, good thing, as it went down 30% today.I do not like the fact that insiders do not own any shares, that I can see, wonder who is unloading.What do you think about this company?

Q: I have a full 3% position here, its one of my more well timed picks as I entered in Jan at $9.25. I am concerned a little here in regards to its big brother TransAlta Corp. It's apparently got itself up for sale and is certainly struggling. To what extent do the two relate now? If TA fails or is sold on the cheap how will it impact RNW? I like the div. but since I have a good capital gain am wondering if I should lighten up here in favor of a perhaps other safer renewable. Your thoughts, thanks
