Q: Good morning 5i,
I have a loss in Gild and have been waiting for a time to claim it and buy a replacement. It seems to me that the recent drop in Abbivie might provide that opportunity, unless there is something I don't see. Would you think that this would be the best opportunity in this field at the moment?
thanks as always for your great work

Q: Hi Peter,
Do you see anything "funny" about this redeemable reset preferred?
Current price is $21.98. Resets on 2022-09-30. Resets at 5YR + 2.92%. Currently the reset is then 2.83% + 2.92% = 5.75%. If PPL didn't redeem then you'd get a dividend rate of 6.55% based on the @21.98 price. If they do redeem then you get a $3.02 gain for 5 months.
Do I have my facts correct or am I missing a detail or two?

Q: Hi 5i Team -In a question recently asked you mentioned that Shopify is still not cheap. At what price could it be considered a decent valuation. Also in your answer to a previous question you mentioned Shopify has $6.7 Billion in cash. How much per share does this work out to be and is it a significant amount in this context. Do you see them deploying some of this cash to make an acquisition or even to buy back shares. As a summary, are the fundamentals much the same as they were a few months ago when Shopify's share price was much higher. Thank you.

Q: REITs are getting pummeled today with some like BEI.UN, DIR.UN and HOM.UN down more that 6%. Any thoughts on why such a big downturn.

Q: Is the sell off in industrial and multi-family Reits reached full on insanity levels? Seems massively over blown to me. Do folks actually think rates are going back to 1970’s levels (I don’t). Thanks

Q: With the stock market being just terrible these days, what at the companies trading at or near 52 week lows that you would strongly buy if you could (US or CDN)?

Q: 5iteam: Retired income seeking investor that anckored my portfolio with VRIF for reasonable stability with a 4% yield. I am down currently 8% and maybe counting. Can you give me your perspective on what and why with a 50/50 split to stocks and bonds performance has suffered? Would you consider it a good hold for my needs or suggest another prospect with more potential and security worth tacking a loss for the switch? As usual much appreciated Larry

Q: I see the VIX is around 35 today (May 2/22). I seem to remember that it was reasonable to consider to start buying again when it hit 40. Your thoughts?

Thanks...Steve

PS...Please remember to ring the bell when we hit bottom.
