Q: Hi All at 5i!! Considering that everyone is suspecting that bitcoin is a bubble, is there anyway of investing in its demise? Cheers, Tamara
Q: I guess I'll hold on until the dividend date. But PUR was one of my largest positions even before the takeover offer. As such it is now about 10% of my portfolio. My question is how long do you think the takeover will take and in my position, would you just err on the side of safety and take the considerable money and run. Also, although I have held PUR for a long time, your continued endorsement of the company made it easier to continue to hold through the recent drop and I thank-you for that.
Q: Could you give me an updated opinion on CODI ? I notice Seeking Alpha is a bit excited by the acquisition of 5.11 Tactical which I know nothing about. Also I notice in your last comment in 2016 you mention the dividend has different tax treatment. Would this be the case inside a RRIF ?
Q: Congrats for you terrific job!
I am often wondering when you recommend certain etf over some great money manager (like phn, egdepoint or mawer) for just half a point of management fees and on the other hand, you recommend full active management with your own model portfolio.
I think with all the money flowing into indexing and closet-indexer and quants, we are gonna see some benefits in years ahead for truly and talented active managers.
With respect, your model porfolio have proven their ability to beat the index as some greats money manager (as mentionned above).
Comments please

Q: Please provide me your current opinion on Arcelor Mital (MT-U). Is it worth holding on to for the long run? (I am at the age where both Income or Balanced portfolios look more interesting to me) Thanks.

Q: Hi, I'd like to invest in AI(artificial intell). Would you side with a company like NVIDIA or a company using the technology like amazon, google, tesla or other car companies? Also would you have a under the radar canadian company in this domaine. thanks.
Q: How is my TFSA doing? Has anyone prepared an analysis like this: assume one started a TFSA when they were first introduced, and added the maximum allowable contribution each year in Jan., and they received an average annualized return of X (pick some decent average)...therefore the total value of TFSA portfolio should be Y.
Q: I have a question about DHX and specifically DHX.DB.
The debentures are trading around $94 and have a coupon of 5.875% coming due in 2024.
Do you think the company is sound enough to be around in 2024 assuming no take over?
Would these debentures be a good investment for the more speculative part of a fixed income portfolio? If not, any suggestions?
Regards
John

Q: Hello 5i: I would appreciate your thoughts on FAH.U at this time. Would you consider it a buy. Thank you Barb
Q: Thinking of buying this company. Could be a takeover candidate for a larger fin tech company. Good executives have joined former Cisco executive and Descartes systems. Stock up nicely yesterday. Seems to me a company for the growth portfolio ie tfsa. Financing was done at $1.70 with lock in til February 2018. Would you buy?

Q: Interested in your thoughts on Trek Mining, given the upcoming amalgamation of Trek, Newcastle Gold and Anfield Gold to become Equinox Gold. Also your thoughts on the proposed company's management team given the past record of the chairman Ross Beaty. Trek is trading at close to its 52 week low. Does that indicate a lack of confidence by investors in the new company.
Q: I know this is a small reit but can you give me your opinion of the management and the safety if the distribution Thanks
Q: I've held MMM for the last several years, but have become increasingly uneasy with its valuation (though it's not the only stock I feel that way about!). Do you think MMM's current valuation warrants an exchange with another US industrial? If so, could UTX foot that bill and would it complement my other holdings in that space: NFI, SIS, WSP and XYL. Other/better suggestions most welcome! While I have enjoyed the relative stability MMM has provided to my portfolio, I could be comfortable with something a little "growthier" in that space.
Q: Can you please give me your opinion on Brick Brewing's third quarter results announced on December 8th. Still worth holding, and do you consider it an acquisition target? Thank you.
Q: I have an opportunity to invest in a private enterprise that has developed new technology in the music industry. The technology is both significant and international in scope but the company is still in the early stages. Capital investment seems to me to be high risk, but if the company is successful, there could also be high rewards. With 5i's experience in venture capital over the years, I would appreciate your words of wisdom.
Q: Hi, unable to put BLOK block one capital in my watchlist and can't find in your search engine. thanks.
