Q: Because of the recent stock split, I have both class A and class C shares of Under Armour. Is there any reason to think that one class of shares will outperform the other? Or, put another way, Which class of shares should I sell first? Or is there any value in selling a equal portion of both and remain holding both classes of shares ?

Q: Hi,

I need to prune my financials and I am down to looking at DIV and AD. In looking at DIV, the question I ask is, "Would they have sold Franworks if they weren't confident that they had something in line to redeploy the cash into?" With AD, it is "When will they be able to get some resolution with troubled partners?"

In any otherwise balanced portfolio, which of the two companies would you choose to keep at this time?

Regards,

Robert

Q: Hi, this stock was recently added to Balanced Portfolio has dropped sharply from its recent highs.

New Flyer today closed at $37.83, which is off by about 15% from its recent high of $44.87, reached just after quarterly results. When Marco Polo decided to sell about half of its stake @ $40.40, the secondary issue was oversubscribed 3/4 times. In one of your recent comments also, this weakness was again attributed to one large seller.

It has been widely believed that lately NJ issue has been responsible for the depressed stock price. Today's weak backlog numbers and sequential decline in ECU deliveries besides lower after market sales have caused market to press the panick button resulting in another sharp drop.

My concern is that stock may not recover in near term and is even at the risk of losing more value. Should I bail and find better use of my capital? Thanks

Q: Hi, Here is another stock in which I built up a full position over past 6-8 weeks. Based on your many comments, I believe that you like the company but last time decided to add Spin Master instead of Sleep Country, due to higher growth prospects.

The company also appears to be a favorite among many guests appearing at BNN and has been often compared to Dollarama, with respect to its future growth potential and expansion plans.

The stock quickly rose to a high of $33, but has been on a constant decline over past few weeks, losing over 12% of its value, closing at $29.01, today. Recent weakness has been attributed to soft results from Temper-Pedic and also a M&A few weeks ago which was completed at a much lower multiple than what Sleep Country had been trading.

When an expensive stock like ZZZ continues to trade lower, what could be the next event or catalyst, which could help stock reverse this trend and regain market confidence? Or, it's time to sell before stock loses more value and redeploy capital in more consistent names in your portfolio? Thanks

Q: Absolute is dropping like a rock since you recommended it.
What are we missing?and is the dividend at all safe?

Q: I had held alaris for quite a while - great dividend payer, but very bumpy ride on the stock price. I recently sold it all to use the loss to cover another gain, and had planned on buying it back after 30 days. It has continued to drop, however, and now as I near the 30 days I am having second thoughts. Would you consider buying it back now that it is so low, wait for the next quarterly report before buying, or just move on? I would be holding it mainly for income.
Thank-you

Q: H&R real estate investment trust calls itself an "open-ended" trust compared to others that call themselves a "close-ended" trust.
Is the internal structure of H&R more like a mutual fund? Should it be a concern?
Which of these three do you prefer for a long-term hold, as the only REIT in a portfolio. Thanks for your help.

Q: Reading this article, I can t help but wonder why is the growth rate still so low ? Am I correct to assume that bigger the central banks become, this shoud be a positive for the global growth ?

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-10-16/big-central-bank-assets-jump-fastest-in-5-years-to-21-trillion

We often hear about the level of debt but rarely about the creditors of the global market. Who are the main creditors ? What is the global balance sheet looks like ? I know there is a lot to talk about here but your general comments would be appreciated and suggested reading material or books on the topic as well. Thank you.

Q: Just a comment on David's question about RRIF withdrawls. It was suggested on another board that if election for minimum Payment is set as one annual payment to be received in December, say December 15, it does not limit the flexibility to make RRIF withdrawls throughout the year, as and when needed. These are known as "unscheduled withdrawls". As long as total of these withdrawls does not exceed minimum amount for the year, the final December payment can be adjusted. David may want to confirm with TDW this as well as exemption from withholding tax for unscheduled withdrawls.

Q: Hi,Peter
I suggested sometimes ago to make response always available without having to open the link... I did get no reaction.
without loosing my commitment to your daily Q/A, I have another suggestion.
Context:I reopened a suscription to a London (UK) site which is very similar to yours in content and presentation, but geared more to the macro picture, balancing, I hope, your "permanent" positive views on the markets.
They also have 2 managers and I hold them in very high regards. They are allowing themselves to trade worldwide BUT they are reporting their trades on a regular basis wich force them to put their money where their mouth is.
I consider this arrangement in fine much better than prohibiting any trading, and give a lot of credibility to their comments, as well as a lot of weight to their judgement.

Another food for thought, and may solve your problem of hiring top notch analysts.
All the best,
Claude
