Q: Hello good 5i people,
I haven't owned any energy stocks for years. But I would like to add some. Could you recommend 3-4 top picks in the sector for long term growth?

Q: I have held Surge Energy for a good while and I am currently down about 45% on it. It is about 2.5% of my portfolio. My only other energy holding is SDX which currently is about 3% of my portfolio. I am thinking about selling Surge and going into SDX as it has more momentum even though it has higher risk. Surge released their earnings to not much hooplah. I like the dividend with Surge and the oil price has been increasing as it seasonly does during this time of year usually. Will Surge get any momentum with this oil price or should I take advantage of a company that is going to get $12/Mscf in Morocco and over $3/Mscf in Egypt?

Q: Hello 5i

In reviewing some of my positions from a 5 year chart perspective, it is clear I have come to the 5i Party later in the game than others. I am interested in your thoughts about buying some of the 5i wonder stocks that have been money makers, at this point in the market.
The example I choose is the super run KXS has had but now, even before the recent customer issue, the stock price took a break, broke the uptrend and is now potentially faltering.

How does an investor gauge whether the party is over and protect against being the Holder of growth names for the down side of the stock run?
I have had this experience a few times in the recent years and it really eats into a Portfolio value.
There is no doubt this question highlights a low propensity for volatility and the need to keep portfolio weights in check, but what about stock prices today and buying growth stocks at level never seen before?

Q: Where can you find information on Canadian warrants? the financial post warrant data seems to be no longer available, canadianwarrants.com hasn't been updated since 2015, and can't find much on the tsx website or globeinvestor. I would like to find something similar to what the financial post data showed listing all warrants with exercise price and and time left etc.

Q: I wish I had taken you more seriously in September when you said that Newell is "in general is not a company we would be overly interested in."
Now, based on your recent comments, and it's disaster quarterly report, I am ready to sell and lick my wounds. Would you agree?
Can you give a couple of suggestions for replacement in the consumer goods or health care space. I am looking for growth alone or growth plus income.

Q: Hi everyone at 5i! I need a clarification about bonds. I have heard that bonds are facing head winds with the anticipated increase in interest rates. I have a portfolio of 60% stocks and 40% fixed. My fixed component consists of GICs, bonds, some preferreds and ETFs of XHY, CBO and CPD. These ETFs pay me a nice dividend monthly. My strategy is to invest my monthly dividend into the ETF that is lagging to get the greatest value for my dollar. Considering that the value of these ETFs may fall ( hopefully just in the short term) would you consider this an ok strategy or would you refrain from putting more money in bonds and preferreds. Q: I own Apple, Amazon, Facebook and Google plus others. The four stocks have done extremely well for me. I have reviewed the charts for each stock and they go from bottom left to top right; the 200 day moving average looks great, the stocks touch the line and then moves higher; the top line and eps are getting better all the time; they are all spending significantly on RD for the next AI or AR or self driving cars or whatever; and they are dominate in their respective industries to name a few comments.
What gets in their way to make them stumble? Is this or these event(s) soon?

I can’t see a reason to sell or trim.

Q: As stated,TOY missed estimated eps,but sales increased by 26% accompanied by sharp increase in both allowance for doubtful accounts to $9.9m & accounts receivable.It appears that there could be more write off for the account of Toy R US in future.I wonder why management did not provide details of TOY R US & its impact given that it & 2 other big companies represents a sizeable portion of sales
