Q: Hi 5i,
Current shareholder of BMY for last 4 years and it simply has not done very much however pays small dividend of 3.2 %
I'm looking to sell and replace with something in same sector/space with better share price growth potential. Medium risk with 2- 3 year horizon. Dividend would be nice but not absolutely necessary.
Thx
Jim

Q: As a follow up to my earlier question, where in you mentioned "if the focus is on bonds....", last line. I am looking for opportunities in fixed income investments. So where should the focus be, other than fixed deposits . Thanks for the excellent advice you have consistently provided over the years.
Q: Given the state of the markets, what would some of your current favorite names be to add to a new RESP account for my son? I've set aside $10k to take a few stock positions early on (anticipated long term hold as he's a newborn) and then am thinking going forward I'll devote annual contributions to a more passive approach (boarder market ETFs, etc.).
With a smaller account like this diversification decisions seem a little more difficult. Any general suggestions on RESP considerations would also be appreciated.
Thanks for the great service!

Q: Good day
Photon Control has been around since 1988. With this amount of experience and some capital does the company have the capacity to reach new highs even though the Canadian Dollar is gaining? Thank folks

Q: Would you consider MLT a good investment after the recent acquisition and share price rise on the news? Thank you
Q: I am a long-term investor. I am looking for 5i's favourite REIT etfs (cost/liquidity, etc.). Please provide one or two GROWTH REITS (lower monthly yield) and one or two HIGH-INCOME REITS (highest monthly yield with growth as a secondary focus). This would be for both a non-registered account and a TFSA in $CAD currency (replication is fine). US/CAN or Global REITS. Whatever the preference.
Please also comment on IDR.TO (Middlefield Indexplus Reit), and whether this fits in some manner to the above categories.
Much appreciated!

Q: Hi,
I hold both USB & JPM. With the prediction of interest rates & inflation increasing how do you think the US banks will perform. And if one bank had to be sold now, which bank would you select. Thanks … Cal

Q: Hello astute mentor. Do you know much of ideanomics and would you buy or wait for a pullback ? Thanks so much
Q: How do you feel about ret.a as a turnaround play? Their gross revenues were still strong through 2020 with many stores closed. It would seem to indicate that if they’re successful in negotiating out of leases, they may still produce good earnings through online channels.
Q: I know you are not tax experts, so please disregard this question if it falls too far outside your field. I only venture it because you are so generous in answering all sorts of questions.
My wife and I each have a margin account. We are retired and take money from a rif each year. Dividends, capital gains and pensions are split at tax time.
The question is whether we are able to shift money back and forth between our accounts without tax consequences? Also, would it be possible to combine the two accounts into a joint margin account without tax consequences
Thanks as always for the great service
