Q: Hi there,

I'm looking to purchase a full position of BYD. It's come off a little bit and I was wondering if it's a decent entry point of it's better to wait for Q2 for this company. I suspect with driving down so much, their Q2 numbers could be soft. What is your opinion and what would you do.

Enbridge Inc Pref Ser D
This prefered is currently yielding around 9%. It will reset in Feb 2023. Since interests rates are expected to remain low for the next year or two, is this a safer way to invest in a RIFF for the next 2 years? I expect to sell these shares in 2 years to meet the mandatory withdrawals. What risks should I be concerned about? Other then interest rates going down from here, what can possibly drive the share price further down ?

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,

Today (rightly or wrongly), I used the large uptick in the share price of CAE to sell my position that's held in my TFSA. (I sold with a gain of 4%, not counting the previous dividends.) I feel that the "airline" sector will still be under pressure after the present euphoria settles down, but who knows?

Having said that, please suggest two or three stocks or ETFs from each of the following sectors that could be considered somewhat defensive as well as being suitable for a TFSA. Portfolio Analytics indicates that I'm underweight in:
Basic Materials
Communication Services
Consumer Defensive
Energy
Financial Services
Healthcare
Industrials

Q: Hi, I owned the 5.25% Debentures (and stock) ahead of the COVID-crash, but bought more of both in the pit of the crash. I get that they are servicing a lot of debt, but I also felt that they were perhaps being punished for being an airline, without consideration of their essential service in most of their flying markets, and their largest input cost is fuel, which mitigates some lost revenue.
The Debentures have not recovered nearly as well as the stock. I'm OK holding on to the debentures, as they are less than 2% of my RSP, but would appreciate your perspective.

Q: In a recent response to a portfolio question you said you couldn't comment on over 40 stocks in the portfolio but could comment on a few of them. Of IBM you said: "IBM we consider 'meh' and there are better ideas."

My question is this: Couldn't IBM have a place in a diversified RRIF portfolio from the perspective that it provides a reliable income stream to help meet mandatory minimum withdrawals? If you have to withdraw say a minimum of 4% a year, then IBM's 5% dividend certainly helps. If you still don't like IBM in this context, what else would you suggest for a 20 year hold?

Q: I’ve held BNS shares in a DRIP over the past 10 years. My ACB is about break even. I obviously chose the wrong bank as I would have done much better holding RY, TD, or NA over the same time period. Since I’m in a position to sell and not pay any tax, would you suggest switching over to one of the other big five or simply stay the course? Q: Hi, my question concerns slow repositioning of an actual 100 % dividend etf and stocks portfolio , for long term and retirement . Concerning the fact that various economical factors are now present for a future inflation (and then future interest raise in maybe 2 or 3 years ?): 1) what sectors will be safer, or even stay "safe" for dividends 2) what category of bond etf could be added to this portfolio , if indicated ?
