Q: Saw that CSU has an update on the spin-off of Topicus.com. Great to hear that they got it done before year-end.

Question about their news release, when does Topicus.com actually start trading on TSX? And when do current shareholders get that spin-off dividend?

Q: The reported 'dividend' yield for BPY is reported as 9.2%. However, am I correct to say that this is not a 'dividend' like a dividend from the Royal Bank.
Is the BPY dividend actually a blend of interest, dividend, return of capital and 'other' income? Please confirm this observation to be correct or not.
An amateur DIY investor such as myself can be fooled if not careful by simply looking at the 'dividend yield' as reported in daily stock quotes.
What got me questioning the yield was the old adage "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". As mentioned in my previous question, the high 'dividend' put up a red flag.

Q: Hello, this is in regard of Roy’s comment about the share splits of BEP.UN. I had the exact same situation with a calculated odd number of shares. In my case it has not been rounded up, so I phoned my online broker and they told me that the 0.5 missing share of BEP.UN would be paid in cash. I just check my account and an amount of $24.95 has been deposited. Gervais

Q: I would like your opinion on these 3 stocks. I know HAI has just IPO on Toronto Exchange but has been around for a few years. I notice AT has just had a good run and wonder if I should hold off or if it is a good company, just bite the bullet it shouldn't matter.

Q: Greetings and perpetual thanks 5i - TEC is approximately 40% concentrated in the FAANGs and trades in Cdn dollars. Is there another Cdn dollar ETF that has an even higher concentration than TEC?

Q: Holders of the above shares I would like to draw your attention to a quote from the notice of share splits . Quote “Any fractional units/shares to be issued to registered holders as a result of the unit/share splits WILL be rounded up to the nearest whole unit/share” unquote. One could quibble over the words WILL and SHALL.
If you have an even number of shares of the above , your account should show the correct number of shares after the split.
However if you have an odd number of shares you might want to check that the rounding up has been done. For example if you held 201 shares of either of the above you should now have 302.
Calculation:
201 x 1.5 = 301.5 , rounded up gives you 302 shares.
If this isn’t happening for you, you should contact your dealer. Thousands of half shares can amount to a lot of missing shares.

Q: Doing a year end review of all of my holdings. I would like to reduce my position in several stocks (or eliminate entirely in the case of HR.UN and CPH) in order to raise some cash for increasing my position in several other holdings. Fairly large question, so I will divide it into 2, this for the potential reductions and a further question about the potential adds. Would you please rank these stocks in the order you would reduce or eliminate to raise some cash, starting with the one you would be most inclined to reduce/eliminate. Sector, or large cap/small cap not a concern, as I have a broadly diversified portfolio with a lot (too many, really) of names. Thank you for this, and also for the very good service. My 1st year as a client, and I will certainly be renewing. I have recommended the site to a few friends who also do investing.

Following the Dec18 question of Carl on BEP.PR.M, I have a remark about BEP/BIP preferred shares. These are not pure dividend plays. As for BEP/BIP common stock, revenue is a mix of ROC (30%-40%) /dividend and some interest. Could make a difference where you want to hold them, coming tax time….
