Q: Your thoughts on Netflix Pursuing Warner Bros. Discovery?
I find Netflix’s interest in acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery puzzling given the risk profile — regulatory and antitrust hurdles, political sensitivities, legacy assets like CNN that don’t align neatly with Netflix’s model, and the potential future debt burden Netflix may need to take on to finance such a deal.
Beyond regulatory issues, the integration risk seems significant — merging two different cultures, operating systems, content strategies, and media infrastructures could easily become management-distracting and value-eroding.Given all this, would you continue to hold NFLX while these scenarios play out?
I seek your views on:
• whether the strategic upside outweighs the regulatory and integration risks after year one post acquisition
• whether additional leverage to finance a large takeover strengthens or weakens Netflix’s long-term positioning (and especially whether increase in NFLX subscription cost could backfire
• expected regulatory posture toward such a transaction
• how you would position NFLX through this uncertainty (specifically whether you would hold through turmoil I expect). Thank you. :ao:

Q: What percentage of a balance portfolio would you recommend be allocated to precious metals? Would you have a higher allocation to either silver or to gold?
May I have your three or four top picks for silver companies. I currently own Pan American Silver.
With appreciation,
Ed

Q: Is Larry Fink betting a major part of BLK’s future on block chain and more specifically ethereum. BMNR has been mentioned as a potential acquisition to get the amount of ethereum that BLK would need to achieve a strong position in that market.

Does your research suggest that all this is likely and/or in action. AND would you consider this to be a good time to buy BLK shares ? Thanks

Q: On the weekend, a prominent Canadian brokerage report noted the following:

" The Dow Transportation Index has outperformed the Dow Industrial Index by 405
basis points in November — the most we have seen since June 2023.
Through December 5, the Dow Transportation Index has continued to
outperform the broader index. Since the week ending November 21, the Dow
Transportation Index has outperformed the Dow Industrial Index for three
consecutive weeks and five of the last six weeks. "

The analyst also commented that most of this outperformance emanated from Freight equities and that they have seen a pick up in Dry van TL rates which gives them optimism that the freight cycle continues to slowly turn higher after a more-than-four-year recession.

They view TFII to be the greatest beneficiary of this turnaround.

Do you agree ?

And if one has no exposure to Transports, would this be a good time to initiate a position in this sector ? Also, what would be your preferred name among TFII, CNR and CP and why ?

Thank You

Q: A while back my phone kept giving me updates about Poland's stock market performance which I thought rather odd. However it sounds like their economy has experienced a lot of growth lately. Is that likely to continue? Are there any ETF's (US or CA) that you might recommend if one wanted exposure to Poland? I realize you don't follow non-NA markets that much but any info you can offer will be appreciated.

Q: After staying subdued for most of this year, Energy names have seen a nice uptick over last few weeks, despite Oil prices still languishing below $60 level. NG is also holding steady above $5 level.

We presently own only ENB, in the sector ( which acts more like a utility ).

Do you see indicators that after a long period of underperformance, the sector is displaying strong signs of a sustained recovery and it's not too late to start ownership ?

If you believe so, would you start with large cap names like SU and CNQ - Any one or Both ?

Thank You
