Q: Hello 5i Team
Today BDT jumped approximately 12% on news that they are increasing the dividend.
Do you believe that it is okay to buy this stock after the big run up or to wait? Is the stock a good company with a long term investment.Would you recommend this company or another company in the same space?
Thank you

Q: With about a 9% indicative yield at current stock price - SOBO looks very attractive as income investment for the medium-long term. I can't believe that the spin-out would be created with anything but a very solid sustainable dividend - so the high dividend yield in this case is more a sign of unfamiliarity and churn as opposed to "risk". Do you agree with this view??
Thanks

Q: Hello 5i
I notice that you have often mentioned Harvest etf’s in relation to tax efficiency. I haven’t paid too much attention to this in the past. But, now I am interested. I have searched the questions but don’t seem to find what I am looking for. Currently in a non-registered account I hold some vbal. I don’t like the taxes i will pay, though. I want to switch to something more tax efficient.

How exactly does Harvest manage not to require to pay taxes on dividends? I know they re invest the money but i don’t know how that works.

What would be the downside? Higher mer, i imagine. Anything else?

I would be looking for a general market etf, either Canadian or US, or both, if available. I would greatly appreciate your recommendations.
Thankyou

Q: I recently sold my NVEI shares (basically broke even over the highs and lows) and have some cash to deploy in my TFSA. I am looking for recommendations on some growth stocks (US or CDN) for 3-5 year hold minimum that have good prospects. I already own PRL and LMN and was thinking about ARM, AVGO, and NVDA. However, is it too late for these stocks due to their impressive gains over the last couple of years. Any other stocks to consider? Thanks for your feedback.

Q: Earlier this week a US judge ruled that Google has an illegal monopoly with its Android App Store, and the judge set out a bunch of rules that Google must follow for the next three years so as to allow for more competition. This ruling came out of the Epic Games lawsuit. Google plans to appeal and seek to pause the order. But I am confused. At the end of 2023, Google agreed to a $700 million settlement to resolve similar state and consumer concerns with its App Store. And as part of that settlement, I thought they agreed to similar changes to their App Store to what was just laid out this week. So, why are they fighting the most recent ruling? Thanks.

Q: In a response to Marco today you indicated that BCE has a 12 month trailing cash flow of 7.6B, compared to dividends of 3.7B. Does this imply a payout of just under 50%, or am I missing something? I thought BCE's payout was well over 100%. If the 50% figure is correct, why all the concern about a dividend cut? Please clarify.
Thank-you

Q: What is your assessment of today's financial engineering announcement regarding BEPC? Can you give me a good reason to stick with BEPC versus switching to FTS? FTS is a blue chip utility with a normal corporate structure. My gut is telling me to stay well clear of the Brookfield group of companies, fearing that their corporate shuffling and financial wizardry will end badly one day.
