Q: It would seem to me that this company has the ability to grow nicely over the near future. My ability to research the company is limited so I would appreciate your opinion regarding fundamentals of the company and a prediction of its ability to grow investors share of its profits. Q: I am becoming interested in bitcoin. I have not invested because I don’t really understand it. But I see a number of trust-worthy people getting very interested. It seems to be seen as an alternative and often a better alternative than holding gold. In your view what is the risk level of holding bitcoin at this point in its evolution? And can you suggest any educational material on the subject? Finally, what would you suggest for buying if someone is interested?

Q: Does VDY ,BNS, AQN, dividend paying stocks have enough growth to support the price, in view of rising rates.

Q: Good Day to 5I team: With banks trending down I am down about 7% but still with a 4% dividend.With VRIF my core retirement income holding also in a downward trend am down about 5% with a 4% dividend. Would you consider one or the other a sell for tax loss and. Investing proceeds in a 1 year gic at 2.45% to take shelter from what may or may not transpire into a resession and redeploy funds when markets look better? Which do you feel has a better chance of revovery?

Q: I have owned MFC for a number of years and over this period the shares have done absolutely nothing other than the dividend despite general markets that have been quite positive over this period. If that is how the shares performed in good markets what might happen if or when markets weaken. I suspect shares could tank as they’re does not to be a lot of ‘love’ for the company shares. Would appreciate your analysis. Should shares be sold or continue to be held? Could you pleases provide rationale for your position. Thanks.

Q: It appears that the environmental approvals are forthcoming to proceed with building this mine.
$185m in debt financing is in place and additional funds will come about from equity financing.
I suspect that the sp will trade sideways until the equity portion is finalized. Your thoughts about this suspicion please.
If you believe in the lassonde curve, is there significant upside with this company. Thank you

Q: Hello,

You responded to Derek and his question about TSU and BAM stating “ TSU was a 100% spin off from BAM.A. BAM does not own any shares and there is no formal relationship between the two. Essentially, TSU is too small for BAM and we would not expect something between the two.”

In fact, Partners Value (private investment holdco of BAM) is the majority shareholder of TSU with a weighting of 10%. Also, Q4 2016 Flatt stated that senior management intends to keep all of their shares. Now I’m 2020 they did sell 2.5 mm of shares.

Q: You mentioned in a response that generally people are shifting out of banks to move into energy and materials. Is it wrong to chase these areas which have already run so far? About a year and a half ago you had recommended BEP and I know you still like it. For a long term investor if you had to choose between BEP and CNQ which would you choose? To me BEP seems to represent more value as renewables have suffered but CNQ clearly has really good momentum. I have bought oil stocks before at all time highs and it never worked out too well. My issue is never knowing when to sell. Looking forward to your thoughts!

Q: Hi,
Would you be reluctant to maintain more than $100K invested in a Canadian financial institution because of the cap on CDIC insurance?

I recently transferred a bunch of dough to Tangerine as its HISA is paying 2%.

I'm not concerned but should I be?
